• [AUS] Gov party put far-right One Nation party after Opposition in Preferences

Scott Morrison confirms Liberals will preference One Nation lowe.. The commitment comes after an Al Jazeera investigation revealed One Nation tried to solicit millions of dollars in donations from a US gun lobby last year. That same investigation has obtained footage of the party's leader Pauline Hanson appearing to suggest the Port Arthur massacre was part of a conspiracy. Mr Morrison has faced repeated calls for the Coalition to preference One Nation last at the election. His comments today relate to candidates running under the Liberal banner and it will be for the Nationals, the junior Coalition partner, to decide its own preferences for its candidates. It remains unclear how the combined Liberal National Party in Queensland will preference One Nation at the election. Mr Morrison said he had discussed preferences for One Nation with former prime minister John Howard, who overhauled Australia's gun laws following the 1996 Port Arthur massacre. After a far-right senator refused to condemn the Christchurch shooter and an investigation by Al Jazeera showed that the One Nation party is taking donations from American pro-gun lobby groups and that the party's leader believes in a mass shooting false flag conspiracy theory, there has been a lot of pressure on Australia's current government party to put our dedicated far-right racist anti-muslim party at the bottom of their preference list. We have preference voting here in Aus, where voters list their preferred candidates in numbered order out of all of the avaliable candiates instead of just ticking the box next to one candidate, but each party has its own preferred voting list which they give out to supporters to vote for. The government party has now given in to the pressure and encouraged candidates to change their preference list to put One Nation below the main opposition party (Labor, the centre-left party).
Holy shit, I always took the Liberals as pretty close to our Tories in terms of shithead status but if this is anything to go by they are even worse and closer to the American GOP. It shouldn't even be close, even if you hate their policies Labor don't operate solely on hate and division and would at least try to govern properly.
I wish Pauline Hanson would just fucking croak it already.
Sorry I'm completely retarded. It's good they did this and I take back what I said.
Just to be clear, they are putting the One Nation party LOWER on their preference list, which means they are NOT supporting them. As in, they are prefering Labor OVER One Nation.
In the end, what matters is how people actually vote at the ballot box. So international members can understand: when an Australian political party say that they will preference another party in a particular way (eg in front or behind of yet another party), what they mean is the ordering of the preferences on the ‘how to vote’ cards that are distributed by the parties before elections. Of course, voters are free to ignore those cards, and preference the candidates on the ballot as they wish.
According from its Wikipedia page, well yes in some way as of 2019; and they got two (one for each Council) Upper house seats for West Australia and Victoria, respectfully since the early 2010s.
Good, One Nation should get voted out on all seats they hold and Pauline needs to finally fuck off
I wouldn't quite call the Shooters, Fishers & Farmers reasonable, they seem more hypocritical to me. They backed a law preventing the cull of wild horses in Kosciuszkom for some bizare reason even though it seems to go directly against their own environmental policies. Not only that but they don't actually support the relaxation of gun laws in any significant way, and as far as I know, only the Liberal Democrats have a policy platform which makes firearms significantly more accessible.
This would be the Tories saying people should vote for Labour instead of UKIP.
