it's almost as if producing videogames is a major commercial effort whose development is greatly aided by sponsorship
next up: rage at netflix for paying studios to produce netflix exclusives
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, go FUCK yourselves Epic. Same goes for UbiShit.
When did epic fund the development of anno?
hint: they didn’t
literally by paying them to go exclusive
it doesn't matter if it was before or after; either way it makes the development studio more financially secure in producing games
epic can die in hell
chinese money just ruins everything
if development is done you didn’t fund development. When you’re paid DOES matter
You're confusing exclusive deal of something with funding a development of something.
So far, Epic only scored exclusive deals, it didn't fund anything. All the games that went exclusive to Epic already had funding secured and would have been made anyway.
Keep licking corporate boots
The game releases in less than 20 days, what are you even talking about?
Also, the Netflix comparison is awful, Netflix pays the studio to make the exclusives from the ground up, they do not buy them days before the release. I reccomend you to read the numerous threads about the Epic Store, maybe you can find out why people "rage" at them.
At least they're not pulling it off steam until the release date and not before. So you can still pre-order it on Steam.
Just purchase from uplay I guess.
Wasn't the division 2 epic as well?
is this a timed exclusive, because it just mentions it won’t be available past its release.
goddamnit all... At least I have Frostpunk.
What the actual fuck, for once I was hoping a new Anno title to launch without drama. This is ridiculous
Man and the alpha was pretty fun.
Time to not buy it then because I'm not gonna pre-order it on Steam just to have it there.
What the fuck is this? Ubisoft has their own store that actually works kinda well for their products. Why would they do this? And they just rebuilt their reputation of being pro-consumer again.
Have you actually read any of the previous threads regarding the EGS? I'm also not sure how you expect weird little indie games to gain any attention when it's being limited to a single storefront. I remember when Ashen was shown at E3 a few years back and thought "Hey, that looks pretty neat". I had no idea it was released a while back due to it being an Epic Game Store exclusive, and only noticed because I saw that one Monopoly/Competition picture that gets thrown around here. I can't imagine I was the only one who was surprised to learn it had already been released. That's the magic of limiting a game's exposure - everyone forgets about it.
Ubisoft is reaping all the wins here.
+ They pocket the exclusive money.
+ All the outrage are directed at Epic.
+ People skips Epic Store and buys from uplay.
+ They get 100% revenue.
+ No need to discount their game for another year.
No wonder they extended their relationship with EGS.
Because this time they are being paid to.
I mean it's not really an "Exclusive" to EGS, now is it?
Still fucking shady as fuck though.
What the fucking shit happened to "We regret the whole pulling Metro from Steam so close to release" bullshit?
Not that I believed it in the first place, but man that was quick.
Do they seriously think that pulling it only on the exact release date and giving plenty of early warning makes up for the bullshit? It still fucking fucks people that don't like pre-ordering shit.
no this is how you get developers to projectile vomit any ol garbage since their target audience is suits with money rather than actual people wanting to buy and play games
Never gonna use Epic's launcher anyway but this fucking sucks.
I pretty much stopped caring at this point because nothing is going to stop it.
youre a sucker if youre not buying ubisoft games on uplay anyway since you can use 100 of the ubisoft club points to get 20% off anything in the ubisoft store
This is something that people have been missing since this mess began. Epic is not paying for exclusivity, they're paying for exclusion. It's specifically stated that the deal is not have it on Steam, anywhere else is fine.
This has got to be illegal at least in some places and I don't understand why no one is stopping them.
I keep mixing up contrarians and contortionists a lot lately. The reason is that I keep seeing both doing these exaggerated human belief defying bends like these.
