Finally. Got myself $300 stowed away for one of these bad boys. Hopefully a little more by the time we get to the expo.
I recently purchased a new computer less graphics card (which I was reusing), upgrading from FX8350. The ryzen 3000 series did weigh on my purchase, and I settled on getting a lower SKU processor (2600) and a better motherboard (X470) as a result. Very interested to see how the pricing of the new processors fall.
right as I was about to get a 2080ti, ill hold onto my launch day gtx980 a little longer. VRAM is a real struggle for me now.
my body is ready (and part of it is ryzen)
Sound like a good time to buy some more AMD stock.
Can't wait to take my i5-3570k to the back of the shack and finally put it out of its misery after, what, 7 years now?
shit don't tempt me AMD i only built this computer a year ago
I did that last year to my i5-3570k when I got a Ryzen 5 2600. I haven't looked back.
To be honest, the me of last year should have done the same. Now each day is a "Don't tell me how great Zen 2 is going to be, the hype is unbearable" day. I mean, ffs, I got a Fractal Design R6 case sitting right here, just waiting for that sweet, sweet Ryzen 3800X. Thinking of upgrading to Zen 2?
I wanna know if those two bigger leaks (with quite silly price/performance specs) have any truth or not. Hope its good.
If Zen 2 is as good as they say I might finally decommission my i7-2600k. I say might instead of will because I've become so very attached to it after eight years of faithful service, most of them at 4.5GHz.
I'm keeping my hopes very tempered. The off-die memory controller is going to increase latency, bar none. So I think for gaming, unless they can get it running 4.5Ghz+, it might not be better than current Zen. And so far they haven't said anything particularly solid and inspiring regarding hitting above 4Ghz.
I just ordered a 2600x because i really need a new PC (not upgraded this one for years, it's struggling to do stuff now), not sure what to do now.
I just got the Radeon VII because my GTX 780 Ti was on it's very last legs, but I hope this card takes full potential of the 7nm node and finally makes good competition against Nvidia. The whole Game works and anti-competitive practices Team Green has done has left a bad taste in my mouth.
I love my 3770k too. but i hate struggling with CPU intensive titles like Battlefield or Assassin's Creed.
That only means that one version of Navi will perform like a Vega64, and I highly doubt Microsoft’s opted for the most high end
I wonder what the perf delta is between Ryzen 1K and 3K. It's probably mostly from the node move, but I really wonder what chiplets can do for desktop AM4.
Sign me up for the new ryzen. Need to upgrade my i3 6100
To be fair the Radeon 7 is a very weird release either way, considering it just barely outperforms the Vega64
i really really hope that zen2 is good. ive been wishing for an upgrade for years. sadly navi would have to be absolutely bonkers to get me to go amd. i fell for the gsync meme and on a 1440p144 monitor 2070-level performance wont be enough
Good god, that monitor's expensive in the States, how expensive was it in Brazil?
Navi GPU huh, I was thinking of getting an RTX 2060 but I'll wait and see what the Navi lineup is gonna be, and the new Ryzen CPU.
Zen 2+ is the last cpu to run on the am4 socket. Wait for that one if you're already on am4.
I upgraded to a Ryzen 5 2600x after my i7-2600k's motherboard died. Never looked back.
it was 2700 brl a year ago for this S2716DG today not adjusted for inflation about 650 usd
My 1090T is coming up to 9 years old and I'm in the same boat. A real workhorse which just couldn't keep up. In saying that - the mobo I've got keeps giving me random BSODs at the worst possible times (or it decides to chain MEMORY_MANAGEMENT BSODs one after the other for 5 minutes). It's a real test waiting for the new Ryzens....
Phenom II was a goddamn beast. I'm still running on my old 965 + 5770, which is coming up on a full decade. It can still sorta run almost anything, if not for Apex Legends refusing to launch on Phenom-line chips... I'll be repurposing this rig as a home server once I build my new one; perhaps also as a HTPC and light Steam/emulator box if I hook it up in the living room. Still plenty of life in it for less demanding applications.
Unfortunately tons of older Phenom/Athlon processors don't support SSE 4.1, which is probably why Apex Legends isn't launching. I get so many requests to patch SSE 4.1 out of games because I once did it for Earth Defense Force 4.1, but unfortunately most of these games have some kind of DRM that prevents my unofficial patches from working.
Apex Legends needs SSE 4.2, it also fails on even C2Q 9xxx.
