https://www.pcgamer.com/epic-will-continue-to-sign-exclusives-even-for-games-already-on-steam/ I mean technically they already broke the promise the same as the GDC Q&A, but eh.
Did anyone honestly take his promise seriously
And people will continue to pirate these said exclusives.
This just in, slimy company continues to do slimy things
Takes two for a bribe to happen Timmy boy.
It feels like he's antagonizing people on purpose now, I'd be more surprised if he wasn't.
https://www.pcgamer.com/epic-on-pulling-metro-exodus-from-steam-we-dont-want-to-do-that-ever-again/ Make up your mind you fucking swine.
Boy can't wait for the new golden age of piracy.
Unfair competition?
Tim keep your mouth shut, good lord Feels like every day theres a new article
At least he's honest.
Yeah fuck Epic and anyone signing deals with them, everyone knows how much the public don't like this but they'll still take their money anyway, so fuck them too.
Amazing how I went from buying things on sale after a long time because of no stable income, to purchases a week after watching reviews, right back to buying shit a year later.
I mean it in the weakest way possible I can't stand this prick.
I think Valve needs to start hitting back hard. Play dirty.
Why do people hate Epic so much? I've had no issues with their client.
I hate Epic for all this shit they pull, but if Valve had a better, lower deal, between 15 and 25% instead of 30, I'm pretty sure this would make people think twice.
Oh well that makes it all great then, our bad.
Here's a fucking good post, read though it.
I feel like we need to make a sticky "Why Epic Games are fucking twats". There are too many questions like this. Ubisoft pulls Anno 1800 from Steam, partners with Epic, prior sa.. I thought that picture was bad enough until I saw this earlier today and realized how out of control all these gaming stores has gotten to. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/211198/df796b27-b071-4437-9432-02512d37fed2/image.png
And literally all of this is because he thinks Fortnite is going to be as evergreen as Minecraft. He's fucking naive as shut. 10 years later, Minecraft still has zero competition. Fortnite already had competition at launch, and just got more in form of Apex Legends - a game that has been near-universally praised by people who play it as mechanically superior to Fortnite in basically every way. As soon as Fortnite is topped, Epic Games Store's entire business model literally crashes down. If they haven't turned their storefront into something that can compete with Steam on a feature basis by that point, they're fucked. And they're not going to do that, because the entire reason people are fleeing Steam is because Epic Games is offering them wads of cash and a storefront that favors developers over customers. They aren't ever adding reviews or other shit that will punish developers who release a shitty product. Epic Games Store is inherently an anti-consumer piece of shit, and is completely unsustainable in the long run.
imo that picture is a really dumb comparison and extremely biased. That doesn't mean egs is lacking in a lot of features.
well, based CPY/CODEX to the rescue then
Even when installing a game on EGS and clicking the "put a shortcut on my desktop you mong" button, it doesn't do it. Seriously, every time. I have to go back in and create one manually. I know that's like complaining about a tiny splinter while you're also missing the top half of your head but really guys. It's just basic features like this that the competition has had the time to get right over the years and EVERYONE notices when they are gone. At least pretend to respect your customers by putting the research into how a client is supposed to work.
How is Achievements, 2FA, offline play, regional pricing, wish list and user profiles are extremely biased? This is a basic functionality for any gaming platform in 2019. Out of everything this picture lists there are maybe 3 things that can be called biased
Does the Epic store have a shopping cart yet? If not, why does the store for a multi-billion dollar company not have such a basic feature when every new take away that appears near me have one on their first day? Do not accept mediocrity. Demand better.
That percentage is standard because running an online store with all these features and providing infrastructure necessary to support everything is not an easy task. Distributors like GoG also take 30%. It's absurd to say "Well Valve should just accept lower for providing all these services to developers!", especially when that seems to be a relatively small factor in this compared to the large chunk of money and "guaranteed sales" they get for doing it.
It amazes me that Epic didn't consider actually finishing their product instead of buying so many exclusives, they're lacking basic features that even UPlay and the goddamn Bethesda Launcher figured out. I seriously doubt it would cost more than one exclusive game's worth of money to actually finish the storefront, especially considering Tencent's use of slave labor.
I mean... This is a really opinionated, angry post. They're very upset over some features seen on Steam, mostly regarding the store, not being present on the Epic client. I didn't know the Epic client runs faster and uses less resources, that's cool. As someone who just wants to boot up a game and start playing, they've given me far less trouble than any other platform. I don't spend much time navigating or browsing the store, I don't want to be bugged to set up a community profile, I just want to play. I understand some people really like features like the community hubs - Each to their own, I guess. I was mostly skeptical because of the company being owned by Tencent, but even that poster admits there's no damning evidence of them acting malicious. I support the developers. If someone offers them a 12% cut over the 30%+ that Steam asks for, I'm for it. As a consumer, I'm going to benefit if devs can afford to release their games at a cheaper price. The competition is good for both me and the company. Aside from some missing features, what exactly are you getting so furious over?
