Nice
I can't believe Steve 1989 is dead. This is as tragic a day as ever

My favorite video of his is still that one where he's eating like a biscuit or whatever and he keeps saying how rancid it is but still ends up eating the whole thing.
Now that this post is far enough down not to spoil the video casually: It's amazing that not only did this ration give him serious food poisoning, he goes back a week later with a new one just to make sure they're all just that terrible. What an absolute champ.
The dude is physically fit But I wonder what his liver looks like
Did I mishear him or did he say he recently ate a 1906 US Army ration? If so did he not put out the video on that yet? I'm very curious.
In his description he talks about eating an over 100 year old US survival ration.... And says he had no problem finishing it. This man has a stomach of fucking lead I swear, and the fact he cannot stomach the ChiCom garbage is telling.
What I'm waiting for is when he bites into something and a tooth falls out of his mouth and then he eats the tooth
Honestly I really can't say I'm surprised. Some of the stuff sold as food there is just unfit for consumption by anything. If you want to vomit look up "gutter oil" some time.
He uploads as he finishes editing. Given he was hospitalized, that one will likely take longer, since this one is clearly more important. I'm surprised something could actually take him down, I thought Steve was a machine.
It makes the same sound as him biting into those 60+ year old biscuits
That's the 1955 Royal Canadian Air Force survival MRE. Not gonna lie, I watched that video at like 2am and by the end I was ready to drown a man in my own bathtub for those jelly gummy blocks, or any crusty-sugar fruit gummy blocks.
good god what are they thinking
For an allegedly communist country, China has essentially embraced robber baron capitalism. They barely even pay lip service to concepts like professional ethics and liability.
I'm not surprised it's so low-quality considering this is China we're talking about; I'm not even surprised that someone who can eat a ration from 1906 and be fine got food poisoning from this even though it's only from last year. But honestly, it seems salvageable. Seems like he enjoyed the cabbage and the drink mix, and even the curry rice was acceptable. The only real casualty here is the chow mein, and that could come down to either rotten ingredients from the get-go (which - again - China, so it wouldn't be surprising) or bad means of preservation. Replace the chow mein with another entrée or even just fix whatever problem is making it go bad, then streamline the packaging, and you'd have a serviceable MRE on your hands. The weakest thing left would be the curry rice, which is still perfectly edible and it even seems like mixing in the cabbage helps it quite a bit.
That sounds about normal for the Chinese.
This man nibbled American civil war hard tack from the 1800s, a 1906 ration is childs play to him.
I really enjoy watching Steve1989 while I eat, since his videos are really relaxing and usually make me hungry. NOT THIS TIME THOUGH
The ultimate crown achievement for him would be to probably eat ancient egyptian honey even though it's technically not a ration.
you know something is rancid when the man that ate boer war beef doesnt want to eat it
MREs fascinate me. I always wish I could get my hands on some, especially since I'm always looking to mix up what I eat.
I think his curse is that he talks himself into eating more of it, like he has hope what he's eating actually doesn't taste rancid, which is also hilarious
And the video he uploaded straight after he was chowing down on some 70 year old crackers and chocolate with no problems. Madman.
The veggies were probably didn't sold since they were bad or too old. I could imagine the factory "moving" them for free then process with chlorine. I wouldn't doubt they turned off-shade or even grey at that point so they added green dye with some artificial grass-y flavoring. The pork doesn't look cooked through.
Go to a military surplus store. The usually have a case or two of various mre menus.
The crowning achievement for him would be to eat bog butter. Honey never goes bad because the sugar content is so high it's antimicrobial from leeching away moisture from anything that makes contact with it.
