https://variety.com/2019/tv/news/cowboy-bebop-netflix-live-action-series-cast-1203180399/ John as spike is a great choice. Amazing actor, his work in "searching" was great. Don't know about the other choices... but im gonna wait and see
There would never be a fitting cast for me. Keanu maybe.
Mustafa reminds me of Eli Vance from Fakefactory's mod. His features are eerily too ... perfect.
His facial hair looks like a bad hd retexture https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CWY4-33U8AAkhSK.png
Nothing about Jet's original character implies his race so him being black isn't an issue but it does seems rather... On the nose?
cho seems like a decent spike spiegel, i can see it
I'm not entirely sure if they are taking Jet's nickname a little too literal here, since he is also known as The Black Dog. I'm willing to give the netflix version a shot. Makes me wonder if they have someone for the best character in the series, Françoise Appledelhi Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivruski IV.
Reeves is literally the only man alive who can play the role and the only man that can play Radical Ed is none other than Nick Cage
The article mentions that he's in the show, the casting is still ongoing though
In the English version of the show he was voiced by the amazing Beau Billingslea, and his voice fit the character wonderfully. That said, I'm not sure if Mustafa can pull of the voice. I'm cautiously optimistic since Netflix might not be going for a straight adaptation, so who knows how different the characters and story will be. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lu6LRI7Skw0
It might just be because of this notion that anime is dubbed according to fairly low standards, but Cowboy Bebop is consistently one of those shows that gets recommended in its dub form way over its original Japanese version. Obviously the guy everyone knows from it is always going to be Blum, but Wendee Lee and Beau kick ass in their own rights. Honestly, the best thing they could do with this series is just put their own spin on it. The roles of Spike, Jet and Faye are so wrapped up in their original performances and characterisation that remakes are just going to trip over themselves if they try to match scenes one for one. It just so perfectly exists as this microcosm of 90s animation, style and finesse. A remake would have to do something pretty different for it to really stand out.
makes me wanna throwup that this is even real
Honestly Eds actor has me the most worried, child actors tend to be... Eh...
Ed's gonna be such a tough role because she's over the top childish
Just cast Seth Green, would fall in line with the rest of the cast.
I actually love their choice for Jet Black. Gruff, grumpy-but-with-a-heart-of-gold ex-cop type. I can totally see it.
Why did they cast a husky instead of a corgi?
How... How do you manage to miscast a dog?
I don't mind the casting, I don't even mind the dog, but if they mess up the music I will be very disappointed.
Pretty much guaranteed to not be as good as the original. Unless they had a similar creative process but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Alright, I've lost all interest.
>Shinichiro Watanabe, director of the original anime, will serve as a consultant on the project. This makes me feel better.
Reminder that Akira Toriyama was a consultant on Dragonball Evolution, they just ignored everything he said.
Any interviews about this I can read?
