It is kinda ironic that someone tried to use the key issue of race and hate crimes in order to benefit himself. Then used his money, status, and basically privilege as an actor to get himself out of legal trouble.

He entered some arcane alternate-punishment trial and still got punished, but avoided literally saying "I did it"

Glad that this story isn't over yet! At this point whether he did it or not is almost fading into obscurity compared to the ridiculous dropping of felonies and bypass of the normal judicial process.

State's Attorney declined to indict because Chicago PD royally buggered up the investigation. They couldn't make a case thanks to bad police work,so he got off.
