She's 100% in there to be an example for others that would attempt to shine light on any other government wrongdoing

Note that regardless of anything else she's only in jail because refused a subpoena to testify to a grand jury

She's being compelled to testify about Wikileaks, something she already did in her court-martial back in 2013 for leaking diplomatic cables. She's also not being allowed a lawyer. This is entirely a punitive move by the Trump-led DOJ.

Pete Buttigieg also doesn't like her clemency.

Grand jury witnesses aren't allowed lawyers per standard procedure. Grand jury witnesses are not brought in because THEY are in trouble. Her refusal deserves imprisonment as does every other person who refuses to testify when subpoena'd Or do we now believe that ignoring subpoenas is okay? I'll have to let Barr know.

@Laika , based off of that rating, you disagree with the fact that this woman should be in a female prision, instead preferring her to be in a male prison. Would you mind explaining your stance, in light of how massively elevated the chance of rape is against transgender women, compounded by the extremely high rates of rape in male prisons? Let's not forget that she's had bottom surgery, meaning that she is essentially a woman with a vagina in an environment that is literally full of male criminals Edit: Before someone complains about this, addressing an opinion expressed repeatedly through ratings isn't a call out post, much less so if the opinions being repeatedly expressed call for bigoted violence against a group of people, something that's literally against the rules.

You didn't ask me and I don't agree with them but I doubt you're going to get a response so why not add my perspective I don't think she should be in a male prison -- she is not a man -- but there's something... disheartening that the focus is on getting one person away from a horrible environment and nothing else. If the prison rape isn't acceptable for one person, it isn't acceptable for anyone, and it hurts that many people not only don't care about the people most commonly affected by prison rape, but it is considered socially acceptable to make jokes about it. I don't think this is your perspective -- I don't know -- but I can see how that's a route someone could take to become hardened to the issue that she's facing, even if that's wrong of them.

Prison rape isn't acceptable for anyone, but transgender people as a collective already experience very high rape rates. There is a larger issue at play, but transgender inmates in particular face absolutely unfathomable levels of abuse that are far, far, far above general populace. Edit: Not to mention the murder rates of aforementioned transgender inmates, which again are significantly higher than gen pop.

The standard procedure is wrong and the law means fuck all if the intent is to intimidate and bully whistleblowers. Chelsea has said that the DOJ can refer to her previous testimony in her court-martial because she has nothing new to say. Why would she? It's not like she's pen pals with Assange. This is an attempt to undermine her credibility through cross examination to get her to trip up. This application of the law is not in good faith and you're a sucker if you think so.

Is there any concern for the fact that she leaked to Wikileaks?

I think one could argue that she has already received due punishment and is no longer a threat to the public, thus should not be imprisoned any longer
