Can't wait for it to be here and cut my arm off
I never asked for this
glad to see nico's devilbreaker system caught on
I feel like I'd be the kind of person to replace most of my limbs ala Cyberpunk 2077 if it was good looking like this, but also better than human.
wait can i have more than 2 arms with this?
Technically yes but in reality no. The brain is used to working with 2 arms and two legs and although its a jumpable hurdle its already very difficult for cripples who've gone years without walking to re-learn how to walk and I suspect that it would be a similar challenge to learn how to use a 3rd or 4th arm.
The best solution I can see is having computerized "memory arms" that you press a button, and the robot arm then copies your actual arms movements by reading your nerves then when you press the button again it locks the robot arm in place. So you'd essentially be toggling between two pairs of arms.
If you want to go for super scifi you could make the button one of those fancy non intrusive brain-user interfaces and make the usage of your second pair of arms seamless.
Picturing Cyborg Indian warriors resembling Hindu deities, wielding multiple weaponry with their 6-8 robo arms.
I saw this really cool bit in a documentary about the future of prostestics. There was a part about using a neural net to inturpet the muscles in the pec that had the nerves rewired. It required less effort on behalf of the person trying to controll it because the nerual net was meeting half way when it came to motor control, shortening the time to get used to the arm. I wonder if that could be used in a doc oc kinda way to add additional limbs.
The thing that I'd be worried about with cyborg limbs if we hadn't gotten too crazy futuristic yet is you spend an awful lot of energy keeping your favorite fleshy bits running and operating. Without them I would think you'd start running into weight gain problems (in your remaining fleshy bits anyway) because your brain would probably still think it needs to eat the same amount even though your calorie burn rate is a good bit lower.
Reminder that i'm no scientist or doctor so I may be missing something.
Thanks to Big Boss and his team, new research is now available in the US region.
That kid looks like he's gonna tell you "heres your controller!" and he's gonna hand you his arm.
You mean like this?
