According to two of the sources, Nielsen told Trump that federal court orders prohibited the Department of Homeland Security from reinstating the policy and that he would be reversing his own executive order from June that ended family separation. Trump has been pushing this policy since January, the sources said, when the numbers of undocumented immigrants crossing the border began to rise. A senior administration official said they believe Trump is convinced that family separation has been the most effective policy at deterring large numbers of asylum seekers. A lot of people don't seem to pay much attention to the period of Germany after WWI. And I don't mean WW2. I mean inbetween, where we had the Weimar Republic. It's hazy since it's been years since I was studying European history, but the Weimar Republic was described to me by my teacher as one of the most democratic nations to ever exist. And then it collapsed in on itself because the system allowed for Nazi thugs like Adolf Hitler to come to power and turn it in to fucking Nazi Germany. Tolerance and intolerance are inherently incompatible. Being tolerant does not mean you have to tolerate everything, because then the intolerant will take advantage of you and soon there will either be no more tolerant people or they will be afraid to speak up lest they get arrested. Pacifism is all well and good until you get a knife in your gut. Conservatives lambast liberals for for being 'intolerant', with things like "So much for the tolerant left" , not because they themselves are, but because they want us to be so tolerant that they can walk all over us.
