As we can clearly see, nationalism is a farce just used to bring in authoritarianism and bigotry.
nationalists of the world, unite! wait...
Neo-nationalism is a plague. I can't think of one modern nationalistic movement that is agreeable.
I hope these guys experience technical difficulties whilst flying a light aircraft over a large body of water.
Nationalism as a concept is bizarre in the first place.
I have to wonder if they see the irony in this.
With Italy's government already getting onboard with China's Belt and Road initiative, it wouldn't surprise me at all if these other ""Nationalists"" are actually global capitalists who'll sell out their country to outside interests, with a veneer of nationalistic xenophobia to hide their intentions.
They don't care. It's a means to an end.
I would beg to differ personally, I don't think it so strange that an individual supports the interests of their nation above others; tribalism is for better or worse something we tend to cling to. That being said, as our world becomes more and more interconnected (ie the big bad globalism that most of these new nationalist movements fear so much) such a concept is becoming less important, and I think that will ultimately be for the best in the long run.
Still, nationalism is a bit of a dirty word here, and minds tend to immediately turn towards the worst examples of it. Many countries today were born of largely nationalistic movements, and it is an effective tool for nation building.
