This indicates that Barr is looking into allegations that Republican lawmakers have been pursuing for more than a year -- that the investigation into President Donald Trump and possible collusion with Russia was tainted at the start by anti-Trump bias in the FBI and Justice Department. Republican Representative Robert Aderholt of Alabama asked Barr during Tuesday’s hearing if the Justice Department is investigating “how it came to be that your agency used a salacious and unverified dossier as a predicate for FISA order on a U.S. citizen?” Congressional Republicans -- and the president -- have alleged that officials improperly relied on that dossier to obtain a secret warrant to spy on former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page. They say that was the start of the probe that Trump calls a “witch hunt” and that Mueller took over after Trump fired FBI Director James Comey.

This is so shameless that I can't help but laugh as opposed to being angry first.

Release the goddamn report to the public. As much as Mueller and his team has been professional about it, its never going to see the public light of day with crooks like Barr downplaying it and passing it off as "lol its nothing". Just go rogue and let the public decide.

Barr said he will not release the unredacted report, and a federal court in an unrelated case just made it harder to release grand jury information.

Same guy who glosses over entire report with four-page summary that claims the opposite of what is likely its actual conclusion now forms team to discredit it and hunt down sources. This guy is desperate to making sure that report doesn't get out and silence its contributors. I wish we had just gotten it out sooner, before Trump was able to come up with a loyal AG. Scarily enough, I could see something like that begin to happen by 2026, if Trump wins in 2020 and things continue their downward spiral. Would make it a nice round number of 250 years since the country's foundation, if nothing else.

The investigation didn't take too long. There was a window of exactly 1 month, from January to February 2019, where the report would not have been obstructed by either Barr or the Republican House. There never really was a good time to release it.

When criminals are placed above the law, when rule of law itself is dead, elements among the citizenry will feel compelled to take the law into their own hands. And that's truly a sad thing for the country at large. But I can promise you I'll not shed a single tear if any of these traitors get made an example of.

Unless things here go tits down Venezuela style I guarantee there will be no mob justice for any of these traitors. It’s “bread and circuses”, or in this case, cheap gas and football.

No matter what attitude you have starting a violent uprising as a means to justice causes more problems than it solves. Look what happened in Libya and Egypt after the Arab Spring. Mob justice only happens under extreme circumstances like when people don’t have food or safety. When a country already has that it makes you sound like a nut job.

the only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. if trump somehow manages to win the next election, i guarantee that people will decide to start taking the law into their own hands.

I bet Mueller feels betrayed, he and Barr were friends. Seeing your friend just be a crony and then turn on you like that, can't feel good.

The last shutdown threatened to collapse food stamps. A white supremacist drove a car into protesters and killed a woman. Hate crimes increased in frequency almost immediately after Trump won the election. ICE is acting more like the Gestapo than it ever did before thanks to executive endorsement and encouragement. A poll a few months back found that a majority of American adults could not afford to spend $400 in an emergency. More people than ever before are renting because the barrier to home ownership is ridiculous, meaning they could be evicted whenever. Food and safety are already tenuous for a significant enough percentage of the population that amount of police will be able to stop the anger if things get so bad they hit a flashpoint.

To be fair, if he knows anything about Barr he should have seen it coming. Barr helped the first sitting president to commit treason in office get away with it, shouldn't really surprise anyone that he's going to do the same for the second one.
