Tusli Gabbard (D-Hawaii) announced on Twitter that 65,000 people have donated to her presidential campaign, meaning she is now eligible to participate in the June Democratic primary debates.
Who?
This is actually really significant. Gabbard is a true progressive whose ideas deserve to be heard. Her presence on the stage will elevate the discourse dramatically and provide added visibility and credibility to progressive policies. She may be lagging in the polls, but that doesn't diminish her platform. Also really encouraging that lots of progressives who despite supporting Sanders with their $27 donations, also made $1 contributions to Gabbard to boost her over the threshold. I think that was a really strong gesture of solidarity, and an affirming that it's the ideas that matter above all, more than any individual candidate.
Tulsi seems all over the place with her political platform, don't know if she's really "progressive" and hopefully she changes her stance on some of her more dubious positions. However, if she did get the nomination I have to admit it would be tremendously satisfying to see a army vet woman take a righteous shit all over Trump from both the conservative, liberal and populist high-ground. I think she might have a strange bi-partisan appeal that could rock the boat quite a bit, it'll be interesting to see where she goes in the primaries.
Isn’t she the one who defended her father’s gay conversion therapy and made a half assed apology?
She also defends Assad, loves Hindu ultra nationalists, has the support of Bannon and attacked democrats during the shutdown. She is fake, pretty much more in common with Jill Stein than Sanders or Warren.
She's also the one who told us to move on from the Mueller Report.
