https://www.politico.com/story/2019/04/10/donald-trump-mount-vernon-george-washington-1264073 President Donald Trump had some advice for George Washington. During a guided tour of Mount Vernon last April with French president Emmanuel Macron, Trump learned that Washington was one of the major real-estate speculators of his era. So, he couldn’t understand why America’s first president didn’t name his historic Virginia compound or any of the other property he acquired after himself. “If he was smart, he would’ve put his name on it,” Trump said, according to three sources briefed on the exchange. “You’ve got to put your name on stuff or no one remembers you.” The VIPs’ tour guide for the evening, Mount Vernon president and CEO Doug Bradburn, told the president that Washington did, after all, succeed in getting the nation’s capital named after him. Good point, Trump said with a laugh. Trump asked whether Washington was "really rich," according to a second person familiar with the visit. In fact, Washington was either the wealthiest or among the wealthiest Americans of his time, thanks largely to his mini real estate empire. “That is what Trump was really the most excited about,” this person said. If Trump was impressed with Washington’s real estate instincts, he was less taken by Mount Vernon itself, which the first president personally expanded from a modest one-and -a-half story home into an 11,000 square foot mansion. The rooms, Trump said, were too small, the staircases too narrow, and he even spotted some unevenness in the floorboards, according to four sources briefed on his comments. He could have built the place better, he said, and for less money.
“You’ve got to put your name on stuff or no one remembers you.” Right, because who the fuck remembers George Washington?
that's that peanut guy right
I would honestly love to see Trump do any work to make anything like Mt. Vernon with his own hands, but that would never happen. Knowing his dumbass he'd hit himself with a hammer using it wrong on purpose and say he's done.
His golf caddy revealed Trump blamed him when he accidentally him himself on the head with a golf club
Is it so bad he actually has to lie to himself? Mother fucker has dementia.
Less dementia and more the mindset of a manchild that can never be at fault.
“If he was smart, he would’ve put his name on it,” Trump said, according to three sources briefed on the exchange. “You’ve got to put your name on stuff or no one remembers you.” Yeah. Like Tim Apple of Apple Computers. Trump expects the rest of the world to conform to his shortcut of "COMPANY NAME = CEO NAME" because he doesn't bother remembering names.
“You’ve got to put your name on stuff or no one remembers you.” Yeah man, if he did that then people would have remembered him Who the fuck was george washington?? /s
“You’ve got to put your name on stuff or no one remembers you.” I don't think anyone would have remembered Trump if it weren't for the fact that he became president.
Ironically, he'd likely be remembered more favorably if he hadn't become president. Now he'll be remembered as the worst president in U.S. history.
this means someone told our president who George Washington was
Everything about the Trump presidency is just so shameful and embarrassing, from the styrofoam cake to the gold curtains in the oval office, it's all just so gaudy and pathetic and beneath the office of the presidency.
what did Giovani do to merit being remembered anyway? Trump has a point
Turnip has a point*
Benedict Arnold can rest easy knowing he won't be the most treasonous man in American history. Though, statements like this don't surprise, but I'm wondering what's being covered/distracted from this time.
At this rate he will soon allocate funds from the Defense budget to add his face to Mount Rushmore.
I think that was because Washington was at least somewhat aware of how to not look like a complete fucking narcissist.
He's an incompetent retard but he's not a maliciously evil tyrant like Woodrow Wilson was.
yeah I dont think anything FDR did outweighed his whole "strip thousands of Americans of their rights and cart them off to the desert with no access to medical care" thing.
You forgot James Buchanan, who was ranked #1 worst president before we had Trump
I will not justify the horrible actions committed by man on his fellow man however zeitgeist is an issue that needs to be addressed here. Anyone of the times in the presidential position after pearl harbor would have set up those concentration camps, anyone in the presidential position would have indiscriminately carted off thousands past the Mexican border. Not everyone would have massively expanded healthcare, infrastructure spending, efficiently organized the bureaucracy, and be so damn popular even the rich and powerful feared dissing him. By all accounts he was a good statesman for those he deemed privileged to benefit from his work. Unfortunately he was not a great statesman who worked for everybody and even today his administrations bigoted practices can still be seen quite easily. He did terrible things to good people. But his administration also played a very direct role in shaping our modern way of life, and that's why I have trouble pinning him to the "malicious presidents" list.
Trump on the other hand doesn't needs to do this. We'll all remember him as the bringer of the dark ages
Wasn't George Washington a believer of the principal of "a man should be remembered for his actions", and as such is quite remembered? Christ he can't even comprehend that buildings are different and Mt. Vernon is over 200 years old and spent half of that in rough rough shape
what is this weird ass strawman? How does "the US has done mote awful things" somehow go against my argument??
Does this demented brainlet not know what fucking city he's working from?

Maybe he's just had a concussion ever since hitting himself in the head with a golf club.
Did this idiot fail first grade history? One of the first things you learn in school is George Washington was a memetic badass. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=l7iVsdRbhnc
