Pretty great that he's letting democracy do its thing. Instead of just perpetuating the cycle of shit. Here's to hoping the democratically elected government wont just be the hardline islamic women-beater's party either.
The military is still in control, protests are continuing until they hand over to a civilian government
Just going to be cautiously optimistic here, we had high hopes for Egypt until the parasitic Muslim Brotherhood weaseled its way into power and laid the groundwork for a military coup. Might not be as bad as the Mubarak days but it could've been (and still could be) so much more.
what concerns me is that the ruling party of Sudan "right now" is a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, so I don't know if they'd want to try anything with the foreign monetary support they get or what; Lt. Gen. Burhan seems like a good pick but as Gordon mentioned the possibility of it going tits up like in Egypt is still there: Burhan, who was appointed as al-Bashir's chief of staff and head of the ground forces in February, did not have the "same tainted record" as that of other al-Bashir era officials, she said, citing accusations of war crimes against both the former president and his successor during the 2003-2008 war in Sudan's western region of Darfur. The new leader was one of the generals who reached out to protesters at the week-long encampment near the military headquarters, meeting with them face to face, and listening to their views. [Al Jazeera's Hiba] Morgan said Burhan was expected to address the Sudanese public on Saturday. "The protesters are waiting to see what kind of vision and plan Burhan has, [in order] to see if he is going to be the person they would want to represent them during the transition period, or whether they should continue with their sit-in," she added. also it's likely Sudan will change its flag back to the old pre dictatorship one as the current one represents Islamism and Pan-Arabism: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1750/59fa5863-bda4-4428-82e1-f516f7591db7/image.png The colours of the flag represented the River Nile (blue), the Sahara (yellow) and farmlands (green). They were chosen as they were neutral between ethnic groups and political parties. its been used by protestors very frequently so here's hoping it gets a change to help represent a brighter future
