Detainment facilities would still be staffed by federal employees and funded with federal money. Locating them to Sanctuary Cities will literally not hurt those municipalities other than having to reserve some space for them.
Does that mean California can ship its meth and heroin addicts to the sidewalk of 721–725 Fifth Avenue, New York City, aka the location of Trump Tower? Or, hell, for NYC to shove its meth and heroin addicts there? And holy fuck let's round up all the addicts in Florida and ship 'em to Mar-a-Lago's front gate, as close as they can get without security actually shooting. This is a bad idea and it sets a bad precedent, Mr. Trump. You don't wanna do this and you've already fucked things up by even saying it could be a thing.
Trying to weaponize the people now?
There is no possible way to consider this a good move. Let's assume, for a moment, that the Trumpites are right, and most of the illegal immigrants are dangerous criminals. Under that theory, Trump is proposing to a) release dangerous criminals into the US, b) in densely populated areas where they could do most harm, and c) specifically areas that disagree with him on immigration. In other words, if Trump is factually correct, he's evil. Now assume the opposite - that the liberals are correct, and most illegal immigrants are illegal only because our immigration laws are far too restrictive, and they are generally productive and law-abiding citizens (with the sole exception of immigration laws). So here, Trump is proposing something at worst harmless, even potentially beneficial. But, he's doing some stupid stunt instead of just reforming immigration law, so still making a mess of people being technically illegal and subject to deportation at any time, making their entire lives volatile. So even if he's wrong (or is publicly saying he believes one thing while actually believing another), he's doing so in a broken and dumb way. So which is it: evil, wrong, or dumb? It has to be at least one of those, and could very well be all three. But under either common theory of immigration, he has to be at least one of the three.
This is what his base believes and wants. For their god emperor to hurt the people he needs to be hurting
Option C: it doesn't actually matter whether or not they're criminals aside from "illegal" status, people still hate them for not becoming citizens. The plan isn't they're violent criminals and thus ruin the liberals' lives, it's there's so fucking much of them and these cities aren't built or funded to hold them, so they'll collapse and WELL THE LIBERALS WANTED TO KEEP EM, SO ITS ALL THEIR FAULT

That's terror
Yes, that's what philosophers generally refer to as "evil". As ruler of a democracy, you are mandated to do what is best for everyone, even those who did not vote for you. They are your fellow citizens, not enemies. You might not do what they want, but you must still do what, in your decision, results in the best outcome for them. (There's some interesting philosophical questions in trying to formally define "best outcome for them", but for the most part the obvious answer is good enough.)
This is the absolute most destructive way of problem solving. This is not being able to decide on what to paint the interior, so you just burn the fucking house down. Trump is a terrorist with his sole goal to spite the left.
This is going to get real bad, real fast.
The President of the United States is a fascist terrorist who wants his opponents to be punished by releasing a "plague" upon them.
It hurt itself in the confusion!
I sometimes wonder how this presidency will be looked at 30 years from now.
He wants to literally create ghettos.
I still don’t see the problem with this other than his intent to inflict harm. I thought most people here previously argued that large influxes of illegal migrants didn’t put any major strain on communities or the country’s resources as a whole, and were against detainment of illegal migrants? So other than Trump attempting to implement this as a form of punishment, what specifically is the problem?
How would you like to be relocated from your home and moved across the country for political points?
His presidency will be revised by Right Qing propaganda and he’ll get worshipped by Republicans the same way Reagan currently is.
Well the strain is part of the issue. Areas along the border should be setup to handle influxes of people crossing the border. On the other hand just dumping large groups of illegal immigrants in a random city with little warning isn't giving them enough time to properly prepare for their arrival. The biggest reason is still just that Trump is a malicious piece of shit trying to punish those who don't suck his dick, throwing an immature tantrum like a little child just because he's not getting the support he feels entitled to. The president should never act like that and striking back at those who don't support him is something that should never be tolerated from any politician, let alone the president whose position basically requires them to try to work with both sides.
Even in situations where there is a major influx of immigrants, they're not just being picked up and dropped off in a specific area by the thousands. That's what the Trump admin would like people to believe is happening at the border, but they're about the only ones that can actually accomplish such a large and instantaneous displacement of people, taking immigrants that would've been headed all over the 4th largest country in the world, and attempting to concentrate them in one, or a few, urban centers. Regardless, you're right in that the major aspect of it is the premise that it should cause harm, whether or not it actually does. The plan is founded on hurting his own population. That's crazy. The US president is going after his political enemies with (what he believes are) rapists and thieves, it's the kind of insanity that would've gotten the impeachment proceedings for Obama rolling within the week. I really don't think it's going to materialize, but who tf knows after the recent firings
So the Federal Government is waging an internal war on some of its own states by trying to release onto their streets what it thinks are hordes of criminals? Every day he gives us new reasons to ask why he hasn't been impeached and imprisoned yet. Sooooooooo fucked.
Fuck imprisonment, at this point they need to bring back firing squads, just for him.
If we can redefine treason to include deliberately harming the nation or its people, then this would be 100% justified There are so many things wrong with the way this country runs that have come to light under Trump that if there aren't major reforms during the next presidency then I might have to move the fuck away to avoid its imminent collapse
That sounds vague enough to be exploited in a thousand different ways.
A lot of people are like ~oooh, this is actually good because [reason]~ but it's not. At all. Ilegal immigrants aren't the pox that Republicans claim they are, but getting a massive influx of (often) uneducated and destitute people, especially a high concentration, is very very bad .
What the fuck is even reality anymore, man
Probably why it isn't there to begin with All the checks and balances have failed and the United States is officially a flawed democracy in a downward spiral towards fascism, and all legal means of getting rid of the tumor-in-chief are either non-options due to half of Congress being complicit or a gamble at best with the current runners-up for opposition having rabid fanbases that fight each other. The president has repeatedly held the economy hostage to try and get what he wants, and actively seeks to harm innocent people who reside in our country in order to rile up support from his twisted base. Such things need to be punished somehow. I'm just out of ideas, short of suicidal violence that will only make things worse.

Good hope he does it. Dems love immigrants and set these cities up to protect them. Fine have them all. Drop them off in the most affluent areas of town too. Let these rich pricks that say they care about these people have them in their neighborhoods. Watch how quick their tune changes.
