Fuck yeah. I have a lot of respect for Bernie for doing this. Democrats who refuse to go on Fox News are basically admitting that they don't think they have a wider appeal.
I dunno I think the fox news demographic is extremely homogeneous and fox news in general has been a propaganda outlet for republicans in everything but name. democrats have very good reasons not to trust fox news.
While I don't think it was a mistake to do this it's easy to see fox's angle here. Making Bernie look good makes the rest of the dems look bad, and the DNC will do anything to keep Bernie away from the nomination.
It's healthy not to trust Fox News' agenda here but all you have to do is see this statistic to recognise that Bernie can and will appeal to some Republicans, so he needs to be showing up to events with Republicans to be talking about his vision if he wants to convert them, which I believe he's capable of doing: POLITICO/Harvard poll Meanwhile, 65 percent of respondents (70 percent of Democrats and 51 percent of Republicans) support a public health insurance option that would compete with private payers.  Yes, public option is not exactly what Bernie is supporting, but 51% of Republicans being for this demonstrates that it's worthwhile to be talking about it on Fox, as well as other things. Trump managed to get a lot of lifelong Democrats precisely because he spent a lot of time in traditionally blue states talking about the poorest Americans. Trump was bullshitting with his promises, of course, but this shows that it's worthwhile and is why I believe Democrats shying away from a combative right-wing Town Hall environment is a bad idea.
Don´t think he will be good for your country. You guys would be better of with a leader that´s not hated with a passion by a large portion of your population. That´ll only divide more.
In our current political climate that sounds next to impossible
Bernie is literally the most liked Senator in the entire United States. C'mon... https://morningconsult.com/2019/01/10/americas-most-and-least-popular-senators-q4-2018/
Yeah but he's also hated by many, maybe even more so than Obama was. It might just happen that your country becomes again close to ungovernable due to midterm elections. An by both parties respected president will most likely get a lot more done.
Holy shit these hosts are letting themselves get dunked the fuck on with these weak ass questions
You really just have no idea what the political climate is in this country. Bernie is the most viable candidate because he's able to reach Republican voters in a way Democrats haven't been able to. You're asking for an extremely divided country to elect a President that's "by both parties respected". Well, sorry dude, but we can't just force everyone to respect everyone else. Bernie has the most bipartisan support. That's the best we're going to get. Your snide "well just do better" comments are unnecessary and rude, providing nothing to the conversation.
I don't mean to be rude but you seem kinda out of touch on American politics. Did you happen to not hear about the government shutdown that happened back in December and January? And that wasn't even the first one under Trump! I mean, what you're asking for at this current point in time is a near fuckin miracle. America probably hasn't been this divided since the civil rights movement or the civil war. I'd love to see you name someone to be President who isn't hated by both sides right now. All Bernie can do is explain his message to Republicans and hope they listen so that they DO end up liking him, same with Democrats.
bernie is by all metrics the most adored politician in america right now.
So what? Some people are always going to hate politicians from the other party and there's nothing you can do about it. You shouldn't forfeit your ideals just to make the 'other side' hate the president less, because you can get your ass the Republican leadership and channels like Fox News will attack ANY Democrat who wins, whether they're Bernie Sanders or Joe Manchin - they don't care about the candidate's policies, just the party they belong to. Obama was a pretty centrist Democrat and Fox News did a whole segment on the fact he was wearing a fucking tan suit.
Martha is just you're typical fox nutjob host, she's like incredulous that sanders doesn't believe in The Wall and every question was a gotcha question.
Yeah, every time the hosts asked a question or made a statement I cringed hard. Whenever they opened their mouths the videos became hard to watch imo.
Bret was OK but ya this is exactly what the DNC was talking about, the hosts care more about red meat baiting rather than actual debate, giving them the entire presidential slate and 3 hours would be a shitshow.
He's on fire here.
So every attack they make is "Everything you want to do is to help yourself???" and he simply has to go "nah it's actually good for everyone" lol.
See how the interviewers squirm and interrupt him when he mentions healthcare and education.
heh heh mr socialism isn't it true u wrote a book and then sold it for money lmao sounds like u actually love capitalism hah ;) gottem
Should have run Bernie in 2016. Will the DNC learn their lesson this time and not try to force a Biden primary victory? I'm not optimistic, but at the same time it's not going to be nearly as easy to pull that trick off with Biden as it was with Hillary. There's a zillion candidates this time, including multiple who are just as safe and neo-liberal as him - and he's the only one that has a sexual harassment scandal brewing.
I'm not sure bernie's time was 2016, look how much he's moved from the fringe of politics all the way to the very top of the pyramid of politics.
silence, yuro
I really want to see someone push him on the nuclear issue. I know his position on it, but I want to know WHY. Many of the reasons he is against nuclear power could be based on outdated technology. Right now the nuclear issue is the only one I really disagree with him on, but he hardly ever goes into it; he simply says it should be phased out.
My favorite thing I've noticed about Bernie this year is that at all the live events I've seen him speaking at he's always on his feet the entire time. I'm just impressed by how lively he is and the respect that he shows when he addresses people in the crowd.
Yang and Buttigieg are both pro-nuclear, and they're both going to the first debate. Hopefully they'll get a chance to challenge Bernie on that issue.
Yep, along with Gabbard as well since she got enough money from days ago to joined the debate too.
Good point, let's just make the guy with the very least amount of votes president. That way everybody is upset. No divide because everybody will agree that guy shouldnt be president and boom national unity restored.
Yeah, I mean just look at the breadth of evidence available that supports that assertion:
