If you weren’t among the hundreds of thousands of voters who took advantage of early polling in this spring’s election, it’s your day to head out and cast a ballot to decide the next leader of Alberta.
This isn't really relevant to anyone outside of the maybe 3 or 4 users from Alberta, is it?
That said, I cast my vote already in the advance polls. I'll be happy when this election is over
I used to live in Alberta, and in 2015, I voted for Rachel Notley. I no longer live there, but honestly speaking, I think she's done a really good job as Premier and if given the chance, I would vote for her again. It's sad to see that despite her progress, Alberta's probably going to end up electing Jason Kenney, someone who I don't think has even a shred of dignity in his body.
Hope you guys are ready for another 40 years of unending Conservative governments.
As much as you might hate them, you know I'm right.
Man you guys are some pessimists sheesh. I don't follow politics anymore cause its fucking stupid nowadays but I got enough faith in Alberta to not vote in the united retard party.
You mean like they have for so many years before ndp?
You'd be pessimistic if you followed politics, trust me!
I mean don't forget that the NDP in 2015 blew the Wild Rose and Con parties out of the water so fucking hard that they had to start sucking eachother's wienies. Shit can change for the better yo
And, as predicted and to nobody's surprise, it's a UCP majority.
Sooo...
So yea, the UCP expected to win a majority, but I didn't expect a super majority. But yet again, it see why people (Left-wing and centre types), called Albertans are always known and stereotype as Canada's Texas.
But also a small fact in made, that the Alberta Party got none seats despite polling in the results a 8-9%, has proven again the FPTP is a big joke and accidentally evil. And most all the provinces need to adopt a better to reduce the political of cult-like mentally for a while.
Too bad BC failed on getting rid of FPTP. I voted against it but ah well
idk what you expect me to say tbh. I was wrong, who cares?
I mean that you should open your eyes to the political world around you. This shit matters
Here's how I see it: Politics is important, but as of right now no system I know of represents anyone but the majority, political tribalism is rampant and has led us into an "us vs them" passion over reason issue, no amount of political education for me would sway the hundreds of thousands of others who vote as well, nor would it change my voting power. Until the system is reformed in a way that can represent everyone properly and government offices aren't held by people who grew up in the Cold War, I'm not going to bother learning the nuances of how an old fart who doesn't understand climate change is going to kill us all in a decade or whatever other issue someone might bring in. It doesn't take a genius to get the concept, thinking about it just depresses me and I ain't taking that road again, and wasting my time learning about it isn't going to change anything. Politics might matter to you but to me you either go John Wilkes Booth or stick to the surface level stuff, anything else is a waste of time and changes nothing.
From Edmonton, I voted for NDP. I'm kinda worried about the future in regards to the environment under UCP majority.
