https://www.orlandosentinel.com/politics/os-ne-randy-fine-facebook-comments-20190412-story.html Republican state Rep. Randy Fine twice called a Jewish Facebook commenter a “Judenrat,” a term used to describe Jewish Nazi collaborators, for his supporting an event to discuss the Israeli-Palestinian situation. Fine, R-Palm Bay, who is Jewish, has been embroiled in controversy before for his social media comments, which include calling commenters who criticized Israel “Nazi” or “anti-Semitic” in 2017. In an April 4 post on his Facebook page, Fine called that night’s event in Melbourne, the ‘Palestine/Israel, Opening the Dialogue’ panel discussion sponsored by the Space Coast Progressive Alliance, an “anti-Semitic rally targeting Jews sponsored by a Democrat club.” Alliance board member Paul Halpern responded, “I was at the event. I am Jewish. There was nothing anti-Semitic said. Questioning the policies of the Israeli government is not anti-Semitic. Many people from various organizations were invited to speak and chose not to. Three of the five panelists were Jewish. [By the way], YOU, Rep. Fine, were not there.” Fine responded by questioning Halpern’s Jewish identity, writing, “What congregation do you belong to? Don’t remember meeting you before. ”Fine then added, “ #JudenratDontCount.” The term has been used to refer either to Jews who collaborated with Nazis in concentration camps or were at the very least leaders of Nazi- mandated councils in Jewish ghettos during World War II. Amazing. So we've actually come to the point of "you disagree with me, therefore that automatically makes you a Nazi."
