https://www.politico.com/story/2019/04/16/trump-fox-sanders-town-hall-1277611 President Donald Trump on Tuesday took jabs at Fox News one day after Sen. Bernie Sanders’ surprisingly successful town hall appearance on the president’s favorite network. Trump said on Twitter that it was “weird” to watch the Democratic presidential candidate on the channel and characterized the town hall as the second instance of unusual behavior by the network known for its conservative bent and fervent defenses of the White House. “So weird to watch Crazy Bernie on @FoxNews,” the president tweeted in the morning. “Not surprisingly, @BretBaier and the ‘audience’ was so smiley and nice. Very strange, and now we have @donnabrazile?” On Tuesday night he followed up to complain about the makeup of the audience. “Many Trump Fans & Signs were outside of the @FoxNews Studio last night in the now thriving (Thank you President Trump) Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, for the interview with Crazy Bernie Sanders,” he wrote. “Big complaints about not being let in-stuffed with Bernie supporters. What’s with @FoxNews?“
Is he starting to get at Fox News being "fake news" now?
I will say it was a little weird, what with it just being him and the audience against hosts instead of a proper debate. He fucking killed it, though.
I thought that the quote involving the thanks was by a supporter, but nope. He actually interrupted himself to congratulate his alleged success in third-person.
Trump: "I hear that Trump guy is pretty good. Sounds like we'd get along." Person: "A-are you OK? Do you need he-" Trump: "I'm OK. But you've got to set up a meeting with the Trump guy."
they litterally discussed what the audience composition was several times, this wasn't a rally these people were picked from local and state organizations, they're bernie they're democrat, they're republican, they're trump or bust, it was a diverse audience to insinuate otherwise is to deliberately lie
(Thank you President Trump) Had to double check that sentence before I realized it was Trump himself who wrote that. And then I had to check the linked tweet to make sure I wasn't being fucked with.
Crazy Bernie is such a weaksauce insult. At least 'Crooked Hillary' spoke to a lot of Hillary's more corrupt, corporate interests.
If good social and economic reforms are crazy put me in the loonie bin
Makes me think of a Bernie version of Mad Max.
He's not even right in what he's praising himself for, that background was the closed bethlaham steel mill, the audience mentioned how hard hit the area was several times, this wasn't a place that's thriving this was the heart of the rust belt
It was only a matter of time
Bernie has this in the bag
I too miss the jolly days of spring 2016.
Just like when a Fox News poll showed that many of their viewers supported higher taxes on the rich, I wonder how long it will take before Fox tries to claim their viewers are idiots...
I'd recommend watching the appearance, it was a dang good hour show. Bernie was great!
"Crooked Hilary" worked to work up people who were already skeptical about Clinton (particularly enough to consider Trump, as Clinton skepticism was/is kind of the norm) , just as "Crazy Bernie" works just as well because the same people think his policies are unfeasible. "How are you going to afford it? It's unsustainable. It's crazy" is the most common criticism, mix with an expectation/fear of raised taxes.
Superdelegates have been nerfed after that humiliating defeat that was 2016. Rich nobodies shoulden't really be a thing for the 'everymans party' but I digress. The only way I could see Bernie not getting the seat is if Establishment Dems just decide they want a repeat of 2016 and successfully push for Biden instead. Something I don't think will really happen, but lets move on. Even if this happens, I still think Trump's only getting one term. A decent number of his voters were people pissed at the DNC who voted for him. While I still think you'd have a few people left over, I think a bunch of former-Bernie voters would just vote Biden this time.
It doesn't work for us because we're on board with Sanders' policies and such. But it works for people who aren't.
Well the President is acting like an abusive spouse; no reason the 'Royal We' couldn't act in unison on that and be abusive spouses together. "I'm the only one that will feed you the truth but by god are you stupid. Nobody else could ever love you, you racist whores. I'm only with you to make sure you don't do something stupid like not elect Trump as you proceed to fuck up everything else in your life."
I thought Trump was holding a big anime sword over his shoulder in that picture
it's weird to see a president openly accepting promoting a partisan media eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeespcially one who's so critical of partisan media
Was he ever critical of partisan media, though? Wasn't he just critical of any media, partisan or not (BBC comes to mind as nonpartisan example) that didn't fit his insane worldview? If anything, he's shown extreme love for party-based media as long as it supports him.
Bernie was incredible at that town hall. It's night-and-day compared to his 2016 performances. I don't know if Faiz or whoever sat him down and smacked some sense into him, but his appearances have been incredible. Far more substance with far less reversion to the stump speech (and if he did revert to the stump, he only did it for a few seconds before moving on to new substance).
Was planning on watching it, but were kinda on the fence since generally Sanders' appearances are quite samey - which is probably fine for the first little while, where you just wanna get your basic message out, but in the long run you need something more concrete. Definitely gonna give it a watch now, think his primary performance will really depend on him developing his message, and not just repeat 2016's.
Crazy Bernie the absolute mad lad
