i really wanted to play this game after wanting another L4D-esque game and ive heard good things about it, but its such a goddamn shame about EGS

Why do people get pissed about separate launchers? I can see people being mad about console exclusives. But EGS literally takes 7 seconds to download and install, is free, takes up less resources than Steam, and is completely stable.
People aren't pissed because "it's a separate launcher" but rather all the scummy things EGS has done and doing.

yeah why are people getting mad that they have to download an inferior, anti-consumer platform to play games that they can only buy on that platform because epic paid them money to not sell their game anywhere else.
Because EGS is a shitshow of a launcher lacking basic features, a piss poor competitor, and incredibly anti-consumer and other such reasons as listed by another fine user in one of the many threads of how EGS is pulling some very shitty moves
Every. Single. Time. Someone crawls out of the woodwork to protect EGS, before crawling back when people start showing them the same arguments and evidence on why EGS is bad.

Except they do have an argument, and it's been covered literally almost a dozen other times, after such a point it gets tiring of reiterating your point after so long, and with how prevalent the bad press for EGS is it's inclined to be more common knowledge at this point.
Well I'm sorry that everybody you argue with isn't literally a hivemind. If you care enough to argue and be hostile as hell, then you should care enough to just type out your argument.

Looking at it from a more detached perspective it is too emotional and aggressive. I still agree with the post, I would just like to take some time and make a calmer version. Maybe later though.
This is just another post mad about store exclusives. Store exclusives mean nothing. It's a free store. I would understand if you had to pay for access to Epic Store but it's completely free and actually handles downloads and patches better than steam.

Because of having to keep up with multiple launchers, after changing CPU and mobo and requiring a clean install, I just lost my Battle.net account, because the phone number the account was bound to doesn't even exists anymore, the authenticator can't be reached either because its been wiped off of whatever phone it was in, and support asks for my ID, that does not match my name because why the fuck would you use your real name anyway, so they won't let me reset anything and I pretty much can't reconnect to my account.
In short, you have almost 10 different launchers for 10 different services, multiple passwords and account details to remember, multiple launchers running, for no reason other than "we want more money and we don't want to give steam a cut, despite doing record sales whenever we do" and that is just stupid.
BUT... That's the least of everyone's worries. That really is annoying, but behind that, theres still the fact that the EGS and launcher are unarguably THE worst platform out there, both for technical and business reasons. It catters completely to devs and publishers and doesn't gives a single fuck about consumers.

How is "I don't have a problem with EGS" spreading misinformation? Also, resulting to hostility and name-calling is definitely not a way to have someone hear you out. If you want to convince me to hate something, try being a little more charismatic.
They didn't actual spread any misinformation though if you read all their posts in this thread.
Should've clarified it more, "Idiots and Spreading misinfo" was my generalization of majority people I've seen defending EGS, a lot of it being directed at steam and the most common one being that Steam is a monopoly, and that it's a terrible program which allows shovelware to be thrown onto it, which I won't deny there is a spectacular amount of shovelware on steam, as it was mentioned previously you would hardly see it with the curation system in place unless you've been looking for them, and another one being that the reason Valve added their recent DDOS protection is because EGS lit a fire under their asses. It's gotten to the point that it's annoying and frankly exhausting seeing the same shit being parroted only for them to retreat once a proper argument is made.
I would handle attempts to convince others with tact, however it's a waste of both time and energy to be charismatic towards a person or group of people when they are unwilling to even budge and inch to be convinced otherwise. Vestra's post details why Steam is superior to EGS and your response to it is not to take each point he makes and argue it in favour of EGS or admit where it's lacking, but instead you end up saying that it's another post that is mad about exclusives, and if it was only about exclusives your response ends up coming across as missing the point or purposefully ignoring why everyone is against exclusives, and unwilling to listen to what has been said time and time again.
