https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-47983489 President Trump tried to get the man appointed to investigate his links to Russia fired, a long-awaited report has revealed. Details are starting to emerge about the 448-page redacted document, collated by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, which has just been published. Mr Trump's legal team earlier described the report as a "total victory". It comes as the country's top lawyer, William Barr, faces heavy criticism of his handling of the report's release. Story has only just come out so this is all the info we have right now.
Of course he did. Trump's been trying to kill the special counsel investigation since it was started. https://twitter.com/tictoc/status/1118896195626250245 This is a man who is fatally allergic to being held responsible for his actions.
The only reason I find that Trump quote hard to believe is because it demonstrates far too much self-awareness for him.
This time next week we'll have a supercut of all the greatest bits of this report.
Trump would never allow himself to appear discombobulated and weak like that in public, because he's gotta project a tough-guy godking image. I can absolutely see him melting down like that in private, although I'm sure the quotations are a lucid retelling of what was probably a spastic unhinged rant that jumped from branch to branch in the crazy tree.
Or if it comes to that and he has nowhere to go, he'd choose to take the alan garcia route out rather than permit himself to be seen in a courthouse
I can picture it happening, Trump's been on record having angry outbursts at close confidants in the past. However he's built his entire image on spinning narratives his way, so he'll never admit to weakness because the moment he falters will be the moment he loses support. After all, his support-base is built on the pig-headed conviction that he can do no wrong. As long as he tells them they're winning bigly they can all pat themselves on the back.
From this point I dont think Trump is that unaware. He wants to keep his supporters unaware. That's why he would blatantly lie, because he knows his supporters are dumber enough to believe, most of them are socially engineered and manipulated by Russia's disinformation campaign at worse or Fox News at best(directly or undirectly). That's why he is celebrating publicly that the report exonerated him, even if it literally says it doesnt. Why make logical arguments when your opponents can easily disprove you when your supporters think what you say is the truth, not the media or news. Trump: The sky is red Person: what?? No its blue, look at the window! Its blue you can see it right there Trump: See everybody? Its red. Person: you can even look it up if you were colorblind...... Trump: look at this wikipedia's page(Wikipedia page clearly states the sky is blue)! It says its red. Now enough of this crazy talk. MAKE AMERICA RED AGAIN. Normal spectator of this exchange: what the fuck? Highly brainwashed Trump supporter: silly leftists the sky is red! Less brainwashed supporters would try to rationalize it. The sky is red example is a bit extreme but you can see him do this all the time in almost any important subject in which theres no more smartassing your way out of a debate with "gotchas".
At the same time, it makes sense in that he's putting the blame on Sessions in that alleged outburst. Less a "Oh fuck I screwed up, I'm in so much trouble" and more a "Oh fuck Jeff, you screwed up, and now I'm in trouble".
Trump's literally saying in different words, "It's your fault, you should have prevented this by obstructing justice and fucking Comey out a window for me." Because, as a narcissist, it is perfectly natural to him that Jeff Sessions will swandive into a pit of spikes on live television to save Donald J. Trump, the most important living creature in the entire universe, and it's Jeff's fault for not doing it -- because that made Trump have to take matters into his own hands by firing James Comey -- which caused Mueller to be appointed to investigate Trump's interference with the FBI. In Trump's brain, this means it's Jeff Sessions' fault that Mueller was appointed, because if he'd just suicided his career like a good peon Trump's coverup would've been successful (even though that's highly unlikely for other reasons).
