Looks more like a CS map
Those are props from the Dust2 remake.
However, it is clearly not CSGO; those shadows are simply not possible in any version of the Source (1) engine.
Honestly that map looks really cool and I wanna run around it
He also explains that it is obviously not designed like a multiplayer oriented map. It would make for an awful CS:GO map.
Nice.
still worthless to know until an official game reveal.
if
My bet's less on it being L4D and more just Source 2 testing to see how environment lighting works for complicated geometry given all the prop and asset reusage.
I mean, cool story and all, but unless they outright say that Left 4 Dead 3 is coming, I really don't give a shit, Valve either have to be straight about stuff or they don't talk; I know this is a leak.
I've taken a close look at the screenshots and the only trace that points to it being L4D is the generator and the elevator on the side of the fort. By comparing the screenshots, you can see that the elevator can move up or down, and since the generator is at its base, it seems logical that it's related to it.
l4d3 is not coming, its been confirmed that it's been canned sometime in 2017. these screenshots are from around 2013, meaning the game was in development for quite a while. judging on leaks its seems they never got too far out of the planning phase however and like every other game project from valve from this period it led to nothing.
Yep... that's a map alright
That map looks like it could be used for a CSGO coop event.
looks a bit like mount and blade warband
That map is giving me Lost Coast vibes, for some reason.
Whenever I see content form this channel I always remember that depressing ass progressively more dissapointed video about episode 3 news.
Well apparently they did promise not to have any desert levels.
Left 4 Strike: Source, a new official zombie mod coming to CS:GO
honestly at this point i just want valve to release the Source 2 SDK, its been 4 years since they announced they were gonna give it out and we've heard basically nothing since
Those look more like mirage props than dust 2 props. And if it’s from 2013, the timing makes more sense as well. Also, those kinds of shadows are definitely possible as evident by portal 2. CS:GO just uses a different shadow filter
Those props are from Dust2. The kasbah towers and the windows, which used the autocombine system, were in Dust2. Mirage doesn't have the autocombine system.
Also, those shadows are definitely not possible in Portal 2 or CSGO. Portal 2 takes place exclusively indoors, thus any sharp shadows you see in its maps come from dynamic lights. CSGO's global illumination system allows it to have sharp shadows outdoors, but they revert to normal static (and thus blurry) shadows at a distance, which is clearly not the case here. Also, CSGO's dynamic shadows look overly sharp, which is not the case here where they strike a just balance.
This all clearly points to the fact that this is not Source 1. Even with a lightmap precision of 1 or 2, static shadows in Source 1 still don't look like they do here. I know what I'm talking about better than you, I'm sorry to say.
It hurts to know that this was happening in 2013 and just died off.
In 2013, a bunch of users made the decision to hold the HL2 Enhancement Mod off until the Source 2 SDK got released.......
Honestly, is Source 2 even worth it at this point? In what way has it not been utterly surpassed, from the engine technology to the dev tools? If those shots are meant to show off its power, well, they look like a late-Gen7/early-Gen8 game and we're going into Gen9 soon.
To clarfiy, This is pretty obviously source 2, but these kinds of graphics are possible in source. You can set the dynamic shadow distance in CS:GO to really far by editing the CSM entity.
This map has no baked lighting for example

Also I was on mobile before so I couldn't get a good look at the screenshots, but looking at them now yeah those are dust 2 assets.
Wow this is not at all what I imagined Left 4 Dead 3 to look like. Luckily for us L4D fans Turtle Rock got us covered hopefully.
I mean, the rumor about Left4Dead3 was that it was canceled because the team was divided over whether to keep the game on Source 2 or move it to Unreal. That should give you a hint as to the state of the engine, if Valve's own employees don't even like it.
I'm not sure if I'm disappointed in myself for not being excited to see L4D3 leaks, or disappointed in this because it doesn't look next-gen at all.
I really hope it's a card game.
You are right, I didn't know you could do that in CSGO; however I bet up close, the shadows still look overly sharp.
Makes sense, Source 1 was basically done in the same way, it was an engine for this 1 particular game and they just kept adding in features to it. Unity and Unreal really shook things around, they made engines you can use for all kinds of games but Valve just did the same thing they did with Half-Life 2. I wonder if it's because Gabe didn't want to develop a engine for licensing because that would mean they'd have to maintain it and keep in touch with those who license the engine out?
