Once they've spent a few years away from their parents they'll have something else to say.
Good. I remember this news some years ago and was full disgusted of it.
In a statement made during the sentencing, one son said he only recently learned to ride a bike.
"Since January I have learned so much and become very independent," the 27-year-old said.
"In June of last year I learned how to ride a bike and ever since then I've
been hooked and ride it everywhere, such as to school, the store, or
sometimes I just go on long rides because I enjoy it so much."
One doesn't appreciate enough the right of independence, the right of taking your own decisions.
I really hope all of them gets psychological help for the following years, especially for the adult ones. They will need it for avoid the dreaded "civilization shock" or whatever it is called.

Making them suffer in prison is better than just killing them off.
As much as it would be fitting/unsympathetic to just chain them to a wall and leave them to starve I think confinement in a cramped cell for the rest of their lives is equally fitting. They've probably got anywhere from another 15-20 years, which isn't quite the age of the eldest but is close enough. Not to mention they might and hopefully will get a hard time in prison when peoole figure out what they did to their own kids.
Not all states are death penalty states, but CA is one of them. I am not sure what you are getting at here.

The electric chair isn't a thing nowadays. It's lethal injections now.
