which is great for minecraft roflmaozedong winnie the pooh
It doesn't actually look terrible. Oh it's made by Sonic Ether. That's not surprising in the least.
This actually makes me want to play minecraft again, that's really pretty.
Is the new Windows 10 version of Minecraft not moddable like the Java version is?
nope
Jesus, the room of the colored walls (8:00) looks so freaking cozy.
The most you can do are textures/skins
Tbh I wonder if I could transfer my Switch saves to 10
It was mostly to show off the raytracing, if they built some random thing it wouldn't show that off as well.
Yeah until the full release they're only available for supporters. It's kind of amazing seeing how much recognition Sonic Ether's gotten in the span of a month, and it all started with some furry artist on twitter posting minecraft screenshots. He used to be at $2k on patreon, now he's at $22,686
I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft made their own raytracing implementation to show off raytracing on their next gen Xbox.
Remember when we laughed at kids who got powerful GPU just to play Minecraft? Who's laughing now
They have added a scripting language that let's you create more advanced custom content. It's very limited compared to java minecraft modding though.
They cracked down on modding so they can monetize it via their internal platform.
Neat.
It would though. They could have used colored glass in order to show off the dynamic coloring of the lighting. Possibly even combing red glass with blue wool etc.
Them talking about being reminded of that Half Life 2 beta tech demo gives me an itching urge for ray tracing / path tracing in Source, an impossible dream.
His public shader pack without the ray tracing, looks pretty great when paired with a 32x texturepack https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/108621/9dbb1583-87fd-4834-b00e-f46ad77bce63/2019-04-21_18.11.53.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/108621/4b27311e-9c14-4c9b-9464-1b99a0264573/2019-04-21_18.09.54.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/108621/67fcffc4-e7cc-4649-b426-121db6ab3603/2019-04-21_18.06.32.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/108621/62e85d2c-6b81-477a-888c-64daf37ef431/2019-04-21_11.38.38.png
Minecraft has such a particularly good ability to demonstrate what shaders are and how they look The cubic form and dull vanilla textures really highlights the shaders themselves better than anything else. This isn't a compliment to Minecraft itself, more that the simple look lends to shaders a lot better because of it being such a raw implementation
Wtf I'm suddenly hyped for the day when raytracing is less expensive. A developer who has full control over the geometry could make an insane looking demo, but that's one team making one thing. Minecraft lets you build some pretty crazy shit with a pretty good learning curve so tons of people play it and we already have loads of examples of what people can make when you open it up like that. Imagine what people would do with a game that looks like this mod but with a better selection of components and materials.
What I'm confused about is that it seems like the default textures have some bumpmaps now? Some are smooth, others are rough, and they're catching and reflecting light like that. It looks like the default texture pack, but isn't- where or how can I get those? I've already obtained seus pgti and optifine, but I'm sure I'm missing something.
How'd they get the glass to look like that at 13:20? That looks incredible!
I always wondered why shaders just work so well with minecraft, for a totally not realistic game, realistic lightning look pretty gorgeous on it.
Reminds me of how glossy and reflective everything looks on a rainy-day. We've progressed towards 'cozy' tech
I just wish that this wasn't nvidia exclusive. It's not RTX but it uses some OpenGL features that aren't supported by Optifine on AMD GPUs and it sucks.
