I have to confess I don't really have the patience to watch a 30 minute video on this subject, but I think Robert Downie Jr. leaving is as good a reason as any for Iron Man to be killed off and then brought back later. He's probably the most well acted character in the MCU and I don't see any transition working without a bit of a gap before they announce the new actor.
See, I agree with most of this, but I have the unpopular opinion that Robert Downey Jr is now just playing Robert Downey Jr, and I don't really like the portrayal anymore. I was never a huge superhero film fan anyway, but I think that Downey Jr's Iron Man is one of the biggest contributions to what I'd call 'Marvel humour' - sassy quips flung haphazardly just to see what sticks, eccentricity up the wazoo, and inappropriately timed jokes.
Tangent: I'm not going to start crying for realism, because...superheroes, but I always lose immersion when someone decides to make a haha joke in the middle of a fight scene, because why would that happen? It reminds me of when authors try to be too self-aware, subsequently removing readers from established universes for the sake of trying to appear smart. Marvel appears to have forgotten that not every character has to be a wisecracking sasslord.
It happens all the time in the comics. That's like, every fight scene ever for every Marvel character.
Wish they'd kill me off instead.
To be fair, comic spidey isn't really in any trouble with the level of villain's he's usually up against, people tend to forget that he could turn most things into chunky salsa if he wanted to. He can overhead press 25 tonnes.
Comic any hero can implode the planet if their eyelid came in contact with the ground when they blink
Power levels based off of comics are so ridiculously high
Hence why I'm talking his regular power level, rather than his maximum. Literally the only one I could see giving him problems would be Rhino at 75tonnes, but that fucker is so sluggish.
Someone's gotta die at this point.
Literally no one of consequence has died permanently. A bunch of villains no one cares about and Quicksilver. Everyone else has either been resurrected or ended up getting crippled, but with no detriment to their ability to be a superhero.
The Snap happening and getting reversed was predictable as fuck the instant Avengers 4 got announced for release a year after 3 would. And now it's basically confirmed that even the people that didn't die in the Snap are also returning. None of this is 'Death of Superman'-tier awful, but if everyone has plot armor except for fucking War Machine there's no point in even giving a crap for me. I love the MCU and want to see it for a bit more yet, but if nothing of actual consequence is going to end up happening, I don't want to stick around anymore.
And Iron Man is in a lightweight body tank than can do similar. Thor is basically a god, Scarlett Witch is one of the most powerful people ever, Hulk is Hulk. Black Widow and Hawkeye are the only ones that face any kind of actual pressure.
idk jimbobjoe1234 is the most compelling character in the mcu and they havent even had a solo film yet, id be saddened by their loss
