• Rust - Landmines are useless, in concept and implementation. Except trolling.

Look i understand that there should be a concept for 'Baaaaaaaaaaaaaalaaaaaaaaaaaaanceeeeeeeeeeee' and all that, but, whats the bloody point of building and placing a landmine in the game, if: A: It doesnt kill a player in one go. B: its exposed, isnt even inside Dirt, C: can be seen ( I get that its a crude landmine ) but its large body gives it away D: can be seen again ( by people who have grass off ) dont ask me how and why, ive seen twitch and youtubers who dont have grass and can see everything. E: Blows up when theres Fire? Seriously? Fire blows up a solid metal landmine? .... wtf? I cannot protect my base, AT ALL. its like the game is DESIGNED in favor of raiding people. 1 Day build base, the next day theres a hole in it. The only useful thing a landmine is for, is trolling your mates, or some other dumb scrub, ... or placing them in obvious areas before some dedicated no lifer decides to come back with 1 Incendiary rocket and destroy everything.
Someone has clearly never invested in minefields. Just plant them inside of bushes near your base/compound or use wooded spikes to corral people into minefields. They work pretty effectively.
Please keep posts about Rust contained to the containment board Rust section of the forum.

they do a lot of damage to a hazmat wearing player
Minefields are effective at channeling players into a fire zone. Mines are also more of a binary tech. You either place single mines under every perma-bush near your base... or set dozens in large fields covered in densely-laid pumpkins. If you have online raiders often, there is a sweet little trick you can pull. Lay mines close enough to each other and they will sympathetically detonate the next in line. Use lines implanted into less-dense fields. By setting an easy-to-navigate minefield bordered by threats, you can draw raiders in. They will pick through the field giggling at your poor skills. Then shoot the "trigger" mine closest to your base. The single line leading into a lightning branch of lines will traverse the minefield very quickly. Pumpkin soup, but if anyone is going to blow up your mines, it should be your on your schedule.
Dunno... They are great fun when put under the corpse of a player and you watch him/her go there to recover the loot and goes BOOM! Oh wait.... That is trolling right? LOL!
yup his begin denial about mine its fine but most players enver use mine
Ever stepped on a landmine whilst wearing a hazmat? You lose ~90HP and if you were hit beforehand or took a small amount of damage elsewhere you would be fully killed
I agree in a sense that Landmines should be partially buried! Dropping a landmine on the surface of the grass is beyond retarded! Oh look Joey, landmines lets walkaround the other way, landmines averted!
They were handier to use (as were wood floor spikes and bear traps) when you could place them in shallow water, now if you try you will get the "drink" popup. I do agree that they should "blend in" to the surface they are placed on, I would love the landmines to be able to "sink" into the snow, sand or gras and be less visible, same as the bear trap, If you could "skin" the landmine colour depending on the surface, So green for grass, Brown for dirt area etc, I do use them a lot by placing them under bushes and dark areas near my base , and on any ledges that could be used to access base walls (i usually build on icebergs).
One of my favorite tricks.... until it was fixed.... 4 walls round a square, 1 wall twig......., in pointing triangle .. load up with land mines..... player removes twigs, killing triangle.. which caused mines to "de-spawn" over players head. go pick up players loot..... Very very funny....
Admitting to abusing exploits, nice.
Doesn't seem like an exploit. When you break the surface that a landmine is on it blows up. He has combined a bait with landmines on twig so when the player breaks the twig they blow up. It's just a poor man's trap base
My bad. The "until it was fixed" made me think it was referring to glitching or something, not just gameplay that had changed in an update.
Haha. I guess hardcorefs didn't use the best wording on that one
