Consumables in a fighting game are fucking insane.
*Full price fighting game, with a deluxe edition and planned DLC to boot
Welcome to late capitalism Nothing you love will be untouched.
Thanks WB games, you fucking assholes.
Guess I'll wait for the inevitable backpedal like they did with Shadow of War, then. Shame that WB has to fuck with their games like this.
I hate how this mobile game style microtransaction shit has infected every game now. People paid $60 for a fighting game, not a casino.
How do we know this is late capitalism and not still just getting started?
Sounds like they haven't learnt from the Shadow of War "incident" regarding Microtransactions....
The worst part is, the game is awesome from the bit I played of it Which sucks because they basically hid the amazing character customization stuff behind the worst grinding I have seen in forever. in MK11, you can just... make variations, each character has a selection of a dozen or so moves or even upgrades in some cases which can make characters play completely differently Hell, there’s even things for fans of older versions of the cast, are you more a fan of MK1/2 Cage? Just choose one of his skins, which straight up include like two dozen versions of his original outfit, and just give him his old abilities
The fact that you apparently need to be online to have unlocks stay unlocked shows that they learned how to avoid having people cheat to circumvent an exploitive system. From a consumers pov this was the wrong lesson though.
In other words, don't buy the game.
Yeah the first thing I did when I started the game was try to launch up cheat engine and the krypt to see what I could fiddle with since in MKX you could basically unlock everything with cheats. Turns out everything regarding currency is tied to a server so once you NOP the instructions to deduct money for opening chests you just get an error every time you try to open one. I read online that you can earn currency offline which gets added to your online profile so thought that would be an avenue for it but turns out you earn nothing offline.
Can't link from my phone but Boon and a couple of other sources have said they're hoping to fix the ingame economy in the next few days. No word on how the new balance will look though. I get the feeling WB insist on these systems and wait for the backlash to see how far they can push.
The great capitalist filter
Oh so thats the reason that most SP content in that game is online only. What a shit show.
If you buy this game, you're not a very good consumer.
This kinda shit is why Valve needs to increase its refund limits to like 10 hours instead of 2. The game's story mode alone will take you a solid five to six hours to beat and only then will you begin to be subjected to all the abject garbage the game actually has to offer past that point. It's padding for time so you can't do anything about your purchase once you've gotten into the meat of how bad the MTX and general grind are.
Consumables aren’t bought and are for pve modes
Bring me back to the times, where bullcrap like this didn't exist. Ahhh https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/350531/eb5f00eb-3082-461e-8141-16d81d0052c8/games.jpg TAKE ME BACK!!!
Have you heard the new input for how to initiate fatalities? Credit Card Number -> Expiration Month + Expiration Year -> 3 digits on the back
Where did you get this image there's so much fucking shovelware
C'mon man there are some classics on there, like Bee Movie: The Game for 360, Sonic 06, and Bee Movie: The Game for 360.
I just want to say that the consumables are only for single-player, and that they are not purchaseable in anyway shape or form with real money. However the stuff you'd get by completing this near impossible mode is actually purchaseable. For the things about the difficulty of towers and grindiness, I don't know what to say. I liked Test Your Luck type towers/modes in earlier games, and I for one have never (legitimately) completed a single kript in another game. But I can't say anything, because my perfectly fine internet won't connect to the servers, which means I can't earn currency, actually access complete a tower of time, or enter the krypt for more than 30 seconds. The gameplay is really dope, but boy having all my progress thrown in the void sure sucks most of my joy right now.
Okay so GamesRadar didn't knock the score of the game in their review for this, but they did dock a point because it has too much violence in it ??????
another game sadly seems dead to me
