That video was absurd. I wonder what he was trying to do? It was clearly intentional but I still don't understand it. It seemed to be a microcosm of Japanese culture too. The staff member was not very assertive in trying to stop it, whereas in Britain, you'd have people giving you a very stern talking down after doing it more than once.
I wonder what they're going to do to address some of these issues.
Its Asia, we give way to this 'elder respect' and then the elderly take it then it gives them free reign to do whatever the fuck they want and get away with it
Giving respect simply due to age or experience is so unorthodox to me. Maybe I'm just cynical, but it's not worthy of my time and energy to give blind trust to some old fuck with a bad attitude just cause they be old
I kind of thought that it was just the elderly's attempt at getting attention. Elderly people in Japan seem to have a severe case of loneliness to the point that they have many cases of people dying alone and not being found until their area smells like it's rotting.

Honestly this just looks like "those damn millenials!" bulllshit if no one called them out for it.
exactly, here in taiwan we have priority seats on buses and subways and there are always old people who get mad at others for not looking "disabled" enough to have the seat
when the trains are full they just straight up lose their shit when people dont offer them their seats
That happens everywhere with anyone.
One thing is parking in a disabled spot, and getting out of the car in the most standard way possible. Why park there then? You seem PERFECTLY fine.
Another is getting into a fight with people over having a bigger disability than the person who has "your" seat. The worst part is that it probably makes people feel bad aswell, because everyone is usually mad as fuck about it aswell.
Perhaps that old dude is mentally ill or merely trying to re-enact his favourite anime?
That's what'll happen if give respect to people based on arbitrary parameters like age.
