Looks like it was made with a lot of passion. Hopefully, they're able to put their experience in the Jurassic Park game to good use, here.
So can I get bears to maul hundreds of visitors???
Guess it's based upon Planet Coaster, but "planet zoo" just sounds so much like an NSFW furry website. The internet has ruined me.
That'd be neat if this was an expnsion to Planet Coaster, so I could turn my coaster park into Bush Gardens with all the animals, but I also understand why they kept it separate.
A roller coaster ride right into the lion enclosure
you say that like it's a bad thing I really like Planet Coaster, but it's a bit on the tedious side when making a park, it gives you tons of bits and pieces to work with but none of the prefabs looks really good, unless you download stuff from the workshop. I wonder if making and running a zoo will be fun after the initial novelty falls off. I was really hoping that this tied into Planet Coaster somehow.
Oh my god, an actual spiritual successor to Zoo Tycoon 2? I need this in my life, that game was my childhood.
ZT2 was also a large part of my childhood, particularly with the marine/extinct animal expansions, user-made mods, and more. I always hoped for another game that tackled zoo building with as much freedom in aspects like enclosure design, animal enrichment, and of course modability, but with improvements like better animal ai, less annoying guests, a few bug fixes, and (of course) better graphics. I hope that this game can deliver on those fronts, and have as dedicated of a modding community as ZT2. I mean, when you have people modding for a game that over a decade old that can turn this: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/346895/8e1475f4-b3d0-4127-90ca-35001ec81e7a/image.png into this: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/346895/e3e49e3c-246b-4858-b01e-f0ba75a61a1a/image.png You know there are some dedicated modders. Hopefully this game's community isn't as terrible as ZT2's in its prime as well.
Hope they'll have walruses.
i wanna be hyped as a huge zoo tycoon fan, but after jurassic evolution being a letdown i cant say i have high hopes for this
Hopefully they just forget that game and go back to Planet Coaster's gameplay
I still have my Zoo Tycoon 1 + 2 + expansions on CDs around somewhere, this has got me HYPED
It's been getting better with each patch. Dinosaurs are slowly starting to act like actual animals and they respond to their environments better. No more "can't have a T. rex in the same enclosure as a heard of edmontosauruses because the Rex will just kill them all even if it wasn't hungry" or "Brachiosaurs start going crazy because they wandered into a corner of their enclosure and all of a sudden they don't recognize the forest around them so their comfort levels plummet" bullshit. It's slow going but it's starting to feel like the JPOG successor it should have been.
I'm really hoping the management aspect sees improvement from Planet Coaster, but maybe it's time to accept that's not where the market is anymore and just have fun with what we have.
Im hoping for a first person mode likr zt2. I just really want a modern zt2...
as much as I didn't like the newest microsoft zoo tycoon, I liked the Kinect part of it, was fun
It really is unfortunate that the company that made ZT1 and 2 closed before it could make a ZT3 closer to the first two. I feel like ZT2 could have been a foundation for a masterpiece of a zoo simulation game if they simply took everything from that game and fine tuned/expanded on it, not to mention adding full on mod support. I remember that both the newest Zoo Tycoon and JWE caught my attention as someone when they were first revealed, but I ended up hearing mixed opinions on those. I hope that Prehistoric Kingdom doesn't disappoint: Prehistoric Kingdom on Steam I also have a feeling that marine animals would be likely for expansion content, with extinct creatures being a bit more uncertain. However, I feel like adding prehistoric creatures to this game could be an opportunity to give a more accurate and unique depiction of extinct creatures that they may have been restricted from trying in JWE. For me, this would include things like having small, feathered velociraptors just like ZT2, more unique extinct animals separate from JP dinosaurs such as the giant ground sloth or Macrauchenia, or just more distinct dinosaur designs (poor JWE acrocanthosaurus). While this is just a far fetched wishlist, I would be estatic for it to happen.
I wanted to add that this game is coming to steam Planet Zoo on Steam
I hope the modding tools are good, I've never played/messed with Planet Coaster but I hear PC has good modding tools, I just want to make a shitton of horrible abominations to add to people's zoos.
Let's wait and see with that, we've heard that story before...
To be fair JWE was leashed to a movie license and was probably made just for both the developer and the license holder to make a little easy extra cash on the side. Every game consumer should know by now how that goes.
Wait, there's a Planet Coaster modding scene now?
