Of the last things I'd expect from this short is to make the combat and gore so god damn visceral with the new sounds and visuals. Great stuff.
Yeah, Krinkels has really stepped up his game, it's impressive.
it's unnerving the few times where its shown that the characters have teeth and they literally get knocked out of their "mouth"
As a long time Madness Combat fan I do believe this is the first major revision of the art style for the basic grunt body sprites since MC6. You can tell especially by the hands. The "Mickey Mouse glove" style lines on the front of the hands are now way more subtle and consistent among all the hand sprites. The outer defining lines on all the body parts now seem hand-drawn, as they're now defined using the brush tool, which allows for varying thickness per stroke, rather than the classic vector single thickness pencil tool. The shadows are also more subtle. The animation has changed too. Movement seems to be more bouncy and slightly slower, making it easier to follow along with the action. Still butter smooth as always. And oh my, those head injuries.
Yeah I love how well the MC series and it's side stories have progressed, it's great seeing this be brought into modern times without an issue, Krinkels and the rest of them mad lads are brilliant.
