Respawn: to fully support Apex Legends, we are pushing out plans for Titanfall

No resources from the Apex Legends team are being shifted to other titles in development here at the studio, nor are we pulling resources from the team working on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
All for a game as a service that will inevitably be unplayable when the servers get killed.
Well shit...
It doesn't have to last forever, only as long as it makes money.
Maybe the Fallen Order can make Titanfall 3 after they're done. Maybe.
Please?
So you're giving up an award winning fan-loved game for one that is universally disliked. Okay.
We all knew EA wouldn't keep their hands out of respawn.
Wait, I thought everyone loved Apex after the dust settled, what happened?
Universally disliked? Huh? Apex Legends is the only good Battle Royale game imo. Runs well, relatively tight game mechanics, interesting characters, guns feel good. Don't usually die to jank, character abilities add flavour and the map is decent, wouldn't mind another one soon.
People love Apex though?
What in the goddamn hell do you mean universally disliked? Do you know what that word means? Or the other one?
thats bait
We know that, in addition to addressing issues with the game, everyone is hungry for us to add new content. The studio culture that we’ve worked hard to cultivate, and the health of our team are very important. We take those things into account when we discuss our content roadmap, the production schedule, and the frequency in which we can update the game. Our long-term goal is to ensure Apex Legends always feels alive and thriving, with a focus on quality of content over novelty or speed of release. At the same time, we want to maintain our culture as a development team and avoid crunch that can quickly lead to burnout or worse.
This is nice
nothing does
players that have the attention span of 5 seconds and need constant content updates is what happened. people think if there isnt a substantial update every single week, the game is dead.
Watch this go the same way as what happened with fortnite.
Infinfite crunch
And hopefully EA won't meddle and it will stay that way
Look, if this is the best course for Respawn right now, I'm willing to wait for another Titanfall game. I'd rather not have a relatively small AAA studio work themselves to death for my entertainment.
Apex Legends is a good game-- hell, it's the first BR game I actually played-- and, by virtue of it taking place in the same universe as Titanfall, it's certainly the most successful the series has been.
soo why not have the team that worked on Star Wars to work on TF after its release? Was this EA's decision, or Respawns? This is pretty dang upsetting, I was extremely excited for TF|3; it was one of my most anticipated games to date.
This is because Fortnite spoiled an entire generation of kids. They now expect nothing less from any other game.
Imagine if they had as much patience as the TF2 crew around here :v
there is space for things between 'releasing a substantial update every week' and what they've been doing, imo.
Just play Titanfall 2. Literally nothing wrong with it
we get it. people like titanfall 2. i have hundreds of hours in titanfall 2.
posts like this are pointless. titanfall 2 is a solo-oriented TDM/twitch shooter. apex is a squad-based class shooter battle royale. they are totally different games.
What I'm saying is that if people spent less time mourning the fact that Titanfall 3 is being pushed back and more time just appreciating and playing the excellent Titanfall games that already exist, the game would be a lot more active. The gameplay is still great, the visuals and presentation are still great. I don't feel the game has aged nearly enough to where I ache for a new installment.
I just still find it amazing Titanfall and this run on Source. Kind of seems hilarious the best games on Source engine now aren't coming from Valve but a company under EA.
What? Where did they say that? That would be crazy. The game doesn't even control like CS:GO or Half life. It must be very heavily modified to the point of being unrecognizable if it's the case
Pretty sure that's what the devs have said, it's really hevily modified to the point it's pretty much a new engine
They took portal 2 branch and modified it to heck. Some early dev videos had p2 sounds and UI.
Also this is best proof it has source roots:

I don't see any hate for the game itself, only for the server issues and some minor issues.
If anything, I've been playing this game religiously since day one and there's no time of day where the game isn't populated to hell and back.
Movement coding isn’t reLly an engine feature. The main things that got changed were the rendering pipeline and map formats. The model format is extremely similar to source’s current format to the point where you can make models using CS:S’s tools ans have them work
Wow, that's incredible. Apex, Titanfall look gorgeous. Not to diss on portal 2 of course, but I think it's even more beautiful than any source game by valve that I could not recognize it. It's crazy.
What a pleasant surprise.
