Someone at worked genuinely got super mad at me because I told them about antman crawling up Thanos's butthole and expanding and thought that was an actual spoiler and didn't believe me when I said it was a joke.
Good, a LOT of people were excited about this. Just because your life has no meaning and the only way you can get attention is by pissing other people off then you deserve this shit.
One of my coworkers spoiled it for me literally as I walked in to work yesterday and I punched him in the dick.
I totally understand getting fucking pissed at some asshat spoiling a movie, but I don't think that's enough of a crime to unironically justify assaulting them.
I mean, it's a Marvel/Avengers movie so you can probably accurately guess 50% of the whole movie if you've ever seen another one before, but this was still a real dick move for people who obviously cared about it. Not surprising in the least he got shit for it.
Thanos kills Dumbledore
It's been more than 10 years since first MCU film. 10 years of build up leading to Avengers: Endgame. This is unique event which will never have the same effect if it happens again. And some asshat spoils it for you. Still don't think it's justified to beat somebody for ruining that for you?
Obviously he is also a friend? I'm not gonna punch some random guy in the dick.
And yes, it is pretty justifiable because it's a real dick move.
Yeah, no. It's a fucking movie.
My brain is sorta' split between "Yeah a movie spoiler isn't worth beating someone up over" and "Hahaha some smug asshole who makes a pastime out of annoying people got the shit kicked out of them."
It's one of those things that on a conscious level I can't really condone, but still makes me feel sorta' fuzzy inside. He did something he knew was wrong because he expected there'd be no consequences, and then there turned out to be consequences. There's a sort of poetry to it.
And so what? If it's not important for you that doesn't mean that it's not important for someone else. We're all different and for some people those "fucking movies" might be the only good thing in their life. If I had a life where the only thing which keeps me alive was those movies I would've beat the shit out of the guy who spoiled it for me.
A bully was stood up to. That's literally all this event was.
Movies can be held in importance by people and help people get through life in certain situations, but if you're at a point where you're beating people over superhero movie spoilers than maybe the movies are just causing more problems in your life
If someone crashes your birthday and pees on your cake, I hope someone else states 'maybe the birthday was just causing more problems in your life if you're tempted to fight such a person for pissing on your happiness'. That's what this was: someone trying to ruin what people were excited about by tainting it in a way that can't be fixed or easily forgotten.
Honestly I think it’s less that they spoiled the movie and more somebody is being a purposeful dick/asshole so I don’t care if they get beat up. Like you kinda deserve to get punched if you want want to make people unhappy/annoyed.

I'd say there's room to argue they were literally fighting words in context https://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/fighting_words
Temptation i can understand. But this was a little more than just temptation (allegedly, at least)
It’s unclear exactly what happened next, but there are reports that members of the crowd turned on the man, who was left bloodied and sitting on the street, waiting for medical assistance.
Like, i get it, the dude's a cunt and i wouldn't really blame anyone for getting upset and maybe even a little bit physical, but i draw the line when you send another person to the doctor, even if he deserved it. That's when the movie turns from a positive experience to an unhealthy obsession.
Lol like theres any tension in super hero movies, they will just find some dumbass way to bring them back from the dead or use the power of friendship to win the day.
The scope of his injuries isn't really well reported in that article. 'Bloodied and sitting on the street' could just mean a black eye and a bloodied lip.
fixed
I hate spoilers but you have to be a special species of douchebag to physically assault someone over them.
Like others said, the dude's an ass but nothing can justify beating a man over movie spoilers.
Keep in mind that this article is fake, as well. That picture gets recycled every time a big movie comes out.
I like that this thread became an unironic debate on the virtues for assaulting people for spoiling movies and that this is one of the few SH/PD issues on this forum where there's no consensus.
My brother legitimately considers this tweet (regarding Spider-Man) a spoiler, even when I told him that 1, a second Spider-Man movie had been announced a year before IW had even come out and 2, would they really kill off Spider-Man just one movie in. Didn't care, it was a spoiler.
