China going after a counterfeit company? Damn.
Fuck, these guys were actually pretty cool in terms of making custom notLego figs of IPs lego wasn't willing to touch- you could buy them really cheap on aliexpress for years. Quality was pretty good.

Likely at Lego's behest. Remember, Lego has a plant there now. That's the only thing that ever makes China give a shit about bootlegs.
... now that I think about it, that's pretty fucking genius on China's part to make sure major Western companies set up in China. Don't want your shit and intellectual property stolen? Better give our country money and jobs by starting offices and factories here.
this could be an interesting way too for the west to punish companies who outsource to china
The West tends to follow laws more consistently than China does. That is the problem here.
They caught the perpetrators easily because they had a very unreliable getaway car. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/242634/c410437d-a124-435b-90fb-4d5cb461aa1b/image.png
china basically takes advantage of the west any way they can and the west mostly does little about it
Nice to see those two sets got confiscated!
Apparently these are some photos of the warehouse they raided. Lepin was the best knockoff from what I recall. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1169/ea5e5715-b792-4f39-8292-9ec72263cb49/image.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1169/23a6c24d-f8ec-4bc0-ad4a-e496bab27853/image.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1169/9797aeb1-00df-4e90-800a-838118714929/image.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1169/888a495f-686b-4a11-9560-04d2b63123b1/image.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1169/b2c90687-7be4-41aa-84ff-942d02714bd0/image.png
Lepin was quality when you got all the pieces - my roommate and I ordered a Star Wars Lepin set because it was orders of magnitude cheaper than the real deal, but it was also missing some of the most important pieces meaning we couldn't complete it. What we had still looked pretty good, though.
China has a huge lego plant, this was a chinese company vs a chinese company
I'm sorry but the "LEP IT 2 BRICKS" logo had me in tears
I feel a great disturbance in the Dollar Storce.
wow those are blaitant ripoffs
I actually use to work at a online Lego seller, and had to sort through hundreds of thousands of pieces, some of the counterfeit brands are actually really close to the real thing. Like some of them were honestly only identified by the feel of the plastic itself, but of course Lego has used a bunch of different plastics, so it ends up being extremely frustrating at times.
Yeah Lepin isint just bootleg lego it's literally blatant ripoffs at a lower quality and around 70-90% cheaper.
When I read "Not-Lego" I expected it to be about Megablocks
