Greetings all,
I am experiencing a strange issue on my server. Fairly certain it is due to inexperience on my part. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I use TCAdmin to set custom .config file values. Here are the current custom values. They greatly reduce upkeep for larger bases. If one is aware of the stock values, you can see the difference.
decay.bracket_0_blockcount 50
decay.bracket_0_costfraction 0.1
decay.bracket_1_blockcount 100
decay.bracket_1_costfraction 0.11
decay.bracket_2_blockcount 200
decay.bracket_2_costfraction 0.12
decay.bracket_3_blockcount 250
decay.bracket_3_costfraction 0.13
decay.delay_override 0
decay.duration_wood 6
decay.duration_stone 12
decay.duration_metal 18
decay.duration_toptier 24
decay.duration_twig 2
halloween.enabled true
halloween.murdererpopulation 12
halloween.scarecrowpopulation 2
ai.npc_spawn_on_cargo_ship true
bear.population "4"
The issue is that occasionally while I am not online, the upkeep values revert to vanilla long enough to eat a chunk out of everyone's TCs. I get home from work to decaying structures that had 5 days in them last night. But... the values are still at their custom settings according to everyone's TCs. It is mystery gremlin that pops up when no one is looking.
I do a manual restart from the TCAdmin panel every morning. Have not set an automated restart yet, but it is on my list.
My ignorance in an area is causing this. Would anyone know what I am doing wrong, and how to address this?
Thank you for your attention.
Get rid of that plugin sounds bugged, you should be asking the developer of that mod for help not FacePunch.
You can control decay by typing decay.scale
decay.scale 1 is normal, sometimes I'll use decay.scale 0.3 to lessen it use whatever you feel is appropriate
Marco, I am using base Facepunch console commands. No plug in at all is involved with upkeep or decay.
Those config lines are what Facepunch uses to control upkeep and decay. I had to enter them into config because I changed the values from vanilla.
It is a straightforward process that I assumed would be the easiest of my adaptations. It has turned into a gremlin hunt.
The values work wonderfully almost every minute of the day. Somewhere in there, the server "burps" just long enough to eat a pile of resources, then resumes its modified attributes. A 4k frag base becomes a 10K frag base for a moment. It hurts those who do not have enough mats to cover the burp.
I would certainly inquire to a mod developer if a mod was involved. FP has no control of those.
My "patch" for the moment is to ramp up the decay times even more, so when people get bit, they still have a base when they log on.
