This is a very weird episode of Townsends
I think that was the worst episode of Jontron I've seen..
This makes me feel awkward, That particular hill of covered salt is a familiar landmark for me. Tip: Don't put industrial road salt in your chowder.
Reminded me of a couple of his (removed) episodes where he went around and talked to people.
I don't mind him trying out new stuff and see what sticks cause maybe doing the same format might be seen as stagnant, even with some twists in it. Any content creator will try it at some point to improve or explore new avenues in creativity. But ye. This was a bit of a slog to go through. Simpler is often better. The single room sketch thing is more of his thing, with occasional change of scenery. I think this lacked most of the energy he usually has. It's snappy and quick. Back and forth between the content and Jon. Some points for effort but not the right path for him.
His beginnings as a Youtube channel up to his peak about 4-6 years ago was, for the most part, all about shitty video games. His current content is nothing like what got him to where he was. The last video game focused episode, as in, he played video games, was near 3 years ago. That's what he did best and he should have stuck to it. His biggest inspiration, AVGN, has kept the same basic concept down and has remained entertaining some 15 years later while still feeling like the same character doing the same show. It doesn't feel like Jontron anymore and it's just not as good. TBH I think that the higher production value post-Starcade kind of killed it. Jontron worked just fine as a smalltime production.
There was an update video a while back where he said he basically wanted to retire the Jontron format because it was just too much work and he wanted to try new stuff out. The Jontron format is great but I can see how it could spiral out of control in terms of effort required.
i enjoyed the episode solely for the fact that it was filmed in my area and at locations I instantly recognized in the video
I enjoyed it, though I don't think JonTron seems to fully know what he's doing anymore though. Feels like he's been experimenting a ton lately.
I enjoyed it solely for the fact that it was funny and nothing more.
oh don't get me wrong, I laffed, and I laffed good. but full disclaimer that I am also biased because I am watching JonTron goofin' around in the place I grew up :v
When I saw the Naval prison in the distance I was like "wait a minute.".
while it definitely wasn't an episode of jontron i enjoyed it a bit, especially the interview with the fish market employee
I... wow... I barely cracked a smile the entire time. What the fuck :-( I mean, I was happy to hear the Dark Souls sound effect... Jon, please, go back to doing games...
I don't agree that this was the worst thing he's done. A bit different but didn't mind it. Had no idea what/where he was talking about but was amusing.
If anything I found this more interesting than his stuff lately, even though some parts of it felt a little meh it's more interesting than when he focuses a whole video on a single video or gimmick product imo.
Honestly; I want to wait and see because clearly this is him trying to branch out and see what he can make that will be enjoyable. If it works, we'll see him grow into something that;'s fuckin' great.
