I always kind of liked that level. Or perhaps I should say I appreciated it. It's so different from the rest of the game. For once there's no stormtroopers or other basic and common humanoid enemies (except for 1 or 2 grenade throwing Gran at the end). It's (mostly) nothing but robots, robots, and sewer monsters. Speaking of sewer monsters, I'm surprised he didn't mention the dianogas in his gripes as well. Unlike almost every other enemy in the game, since they're melee-based, they go right through you shields. Prior to and after this level, you mostly are trying to constantly keep your shields up to protect against all the blaster-wielding enemies, but in this one, screw you technology: its sewer monsters and torture droids hitting you right in your previous HPs. The diarrhea waterslide was really long though.
Oh my god I remember this level, for me its where the game ended because 4-year old me couldn't get past it. I remember having this game from one of those game magazines that included a CD, mine included Dark Forces and Full Throttle.
That's a good CD. But yeah, I can see how it might be a bit much for a 4-year old.
The worst level was the death star in the Sega master system (and NES?) Star Wars platformer.
