https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/apr/30/labour-nec-backs-second-referendum-in-specific-circumstances “The NEC agreed the manifesto which will be fully in line with Labour’s existing policy; to support Labour’s alternative plan and, if we can’t get the necessary changes to the government’s deal, or a general election, to back the option of a public vote,” a Labour source said. The outcome appeared to mark a defeat for Labour’s deputy leader, Tom Watson, who had been pushing publicly for any deal agreed with the government in cross-party talks to be subject to a confirmatory referendum. I can't vote for this so it will have to be either Lib Dems, CUK, or the Greens for me
Labour agrees to continue sitting on the fence until their balls drop off.
Depending on your constituency, isn't that basically just a wasted vote? The Lib Dems align more with me on Brexit but I'll still vote Labour because the Tories will be more likely to win if I vote Lib Dem.
This is about the Euro elections which use PR so there are no wasted votes
While that's true, there are several British twitter users where I met in the British Elect twitter page, where they felt it's doesn't matter if the EU election using PR or not, as long they using the D'Hondt method version. And they remind it too much of FPTP than PR, as result they feel that pessimistic, they had to vote Labor to beat a possible that silly Brexit Party's win.
Oops, yeah, sorry, that makes sense. Labour have been beating around the bush regarding their position on the EU for ages and I don't really see how they think it's a viable strategy.
I mean, how is it not? The Tories have been losing support in droves and the Labour position of ‘general election with our brexit or ref2’ has been held steadfast since ever, and has seen their support drop a little but otherwise remain comparatively stable. Electorally, it’s been actually been a great strategy. Besides what they’ve done so far, I fail to see what else Labour could have done that wouldn’t have resulted in party suicide. They’ve opposed the Tories on every count and have whipped in favour of second referendum amendments multiple times. Not much else they could have done when every single Tory will vote party over country no matter the circumstances, and CUK will vote with the Tories. A lot of people seem to think Corbyn has a big STOP BREXIT button in his office that he’s been declining to press.
Makes sense given the name. You wouldn't call your party that if you don't enjoy humiliation.
