Me and my BF are looking for games to play together, and would like to get suggestions! Some games we enjoy playing together:
Divinity: Original Sin 2
Don't Starve Together
Stellaris
Stardew Valley
Magicka
Factorio
Blood Bowl 2
Crypt of the NecroDancer (local)
Shovel Knight (local)
Total War: Warhammer & Total War: Warhammer 2
And then there's a bunch of singleplayer games as well, but those aren't what I'm looking for when it comes to suggestions.
Some genres that we might enjoy especially much would be stuff that lets you build stuff together (like Stardew Valley or Don't Starve) or level stuff together (Divinity) but we'd also like to play some RTS games.
Castle Crashers is a classic. Simple, fun and not too difficult.
Terraria if you somehow haven't
The Souls Series is better when played with two tbh. Mainly 3 because of the password system, 1 and 2 will be a bit tricky.
When you build for coop you can do some insane damage too. Replaying it all with someone else who was just starting while I was level 300+ with heavy armor, and healing magic, that shit was just stellar.
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, if you share the controller
Super Seducer 2, Mahmoud path specifically
Or on a more serious note, compstomp in Supreme Commander is a good bit of RTS fun imo. Get some Sorian AI in there, maybe a few unit packs, and go nuts.
The same but on C&C Generals ZH w/ mods is also a hoot, or Company of Heroes
Eh, Terraria does have more of the RNG sort of grind imo.
ASTRONEER might be pretty fun in co-op, so could be Space Engineers, but it's kinda buggy, needs a good PC and doesn't really have any goals besides building stuff
Starbound is alright as well
Thinking about it too, a private server in GMod would probably be fantastic as well. Get smart snap and various tool addons and you're basically set.
I would've suggested Neverwinter Nights 2 coop, but apparently the online component for that is long dead.
E.Y.E: Divine Cybermacy includes co-op and it's roleplay based.
I forgot to mention it in the list, but we have played Terraria quite a bit.
For RTS games, StarCraft 2 has a dedicated co-op mode, pretty fun with its unique sub-factions, objectives and progression. It's also free. Red Alert 3 also has a co-op campaign. Company of Heroes 2 also has a co-op mode called Theater of War.
There's also Starcraft 1 fan made custom maps to make the singleplayer campaign coop, its fun if you like Starcraft, and pretty damn hard. Red Alert 2 has some Coop missions that are great, but RA2 is hard to get running well. Compstomp in Age of Empires 2 and Command and Conquer Generals can also be a lot of fun, or 1v1's.
E.Y.E Divine Cybermancy is a fuckton of fun, not hard to learn and its got rpg mechanics.
This sounds very fun, actually, we might give it a go. He doesn't have much interest in Starcraft as a brand/universe, but the co-op aspect could sway him.
never have i ever is good. also never forget about nickels, the greatest party game of all time.
I'd Suggest Risk of Rain 2, however its more of a 3rdperson shooter - roguelite. Co-op is super easy to set up and I personaly enjoy playing it with people more than alone
A Way Out
A Hat in Time has 2 player coop. And if you have a bunch of friends the 50 player coop party mode comes out in just over a week.
Don't Starve Together seems like it would be pretty good, though I've only played the singleplayer.
Sniper Elite is alright for coop I think. SE3 and SE4 moth have coop campaigns and there's a trilogy of Nazi Zombie Army games people praise quite a lot. I've never played the Zombies games as they're coop only AFAIK.
Totally Accurate Battlegrounds is a goofy Battle Royale game you can play in teams. It ran like shit the last time I played it but it was good fun.
Wizard of Legend is a fucking rad coop game. I played with a friend for 14 hours straight. It's a lot of fun picking the right spells to complement each other.
The last one I especially recommend checking out.
Oh man, I had no idea Red Alert and CoH2 (which I've played a BUNCH) had coop. Time to grab a friend and check those out!
Maybe you haven't mentioned it because it's too obvious, but... minecraft?
Back in the day, my GF and i will come of play L4D 1-2, Halo series, Gears of War, Guitar Hero, Civ5.
Dungeon siege 2 is on steam and there is a pretty simple workaround for multiplayer
Resident Evil 6. Don't believe the bad critic reviews, its an excellent co-op game. Same with Resident evil 5, and they're both adventures all the way through, (though RE5 gave more of an adventurous vibe, RE6 is excellent for stellar combat once you get good with the controls)
personally, I think it's a better fit for siblings tho. Eldest plays eldest, younger younger.
