Link to the bug report: Bugzilla They don't have a ETA. This is a really big fuck up by Mozilla.
Frustrating as hell. Was just in the middle of a youtube video when my interface shat the bed
Yep. Bunch a sites with questionable ads are p much off limits for now. This isn't the first time they've done this either.
Not sure how well this works for everyone else but for me I set my PC back a day and I'm now able to use add-ons like uBlock Origin just fine.
Mozilla needs to start focusing on better addon support and less on advertising half ass privacy settings
Problem that's an indefinite issue, and it doesn't work on several builds of FF.
On the bright side, I never knew how many singles there were in my area until now.
In the meantime, why not take the new Edge for a spin? Microsoft Edge Insider It's a Chrome fork now.
It even disables addons that are by MOZILLA as well. Huge fuck up.
Uh, this didn't affect me. Ublock origin is still working. I'm using a free tv streaming site as we speak.
Hmm, mine are still working.
Same, not affected at all.
BAN
Man has this made me realize how grateful I should be for adblockers and extensions in general.
Whichever insufferable cumstain is responsible for this needs a pink slip post-haste. Meanwhile I can't even browse AMain Hobbies website without firefox OUTRIGHT CRASHING INSTANTLY, Youtubei s an ad-infested fuckhole, my browser looks like the retarded fuckboi lovechild of iOS 7 and Windows Vista Aero....trgjhitrgjhsihsethi fucking christ this pisses me the hell off. 3/4ths of the internet is useless to me right now.
A whopping three of my addons aren't disabled. And there seems to be no way that I can find to force them to run. I even tried downloading the xpi file for my custom theme from their site and manually installing it. It claims it was a corrupt file. Mozilla really needs to start giving more control back to the user. Ever since Google started shitting up the scene with Chrome they've been slowly removing more and more control from the user. To the point I can't even use a custom local page as my about:newtab page because Mozilla doesn't think people are responsible enough to not fall for scam bullshit. This is a major fuck up on Mozilla's part and they're really starting to make me lose faith in them. If it weren't for the fact that there's really no better alternative I'd take this as a sign to switch.
goddamnit i was hoping ublock wasn't gonna be one of the extensions that expired i feel like i'm running around naked in a shit infested room now. bring on the ads
Welp, this is why I keep a fully customized chrome install handy despite never using it.
It's fucked me over. uBlock, RES, and Rikaichan/champ all fucked themselves because of this.
they started signing them because a common malware tactic was to install unremovable extensions to browsers. more people didn't like that than people who wanted the ability to install XPIs directly, and those who wanted to do that were granted that ability via the dev build.
I had 12 of 14 addons installed disabled. It's not a super huge deal, just means I won't be browsing reddit until they fix it, but this is a gigantic fuckup.
And this means they have to completely remove the ability to bypass that even through about:config? A better solution would have been to require signing by default and instead just make it so that it wasn't impossible to uninstall extensions. It's bad enough that Mozilla thinks we're such children that we can't even be trusted to set our own about:newtab page. Before the migration to Web Extensions I used a custom local file for my new tab page. I can no longer do that. They don't allow you to set your new tab page unless it's through an extension and extensions that support local files are not allowed to use local javascript files. Mozilla needs to stop following in Google's footsteps. I've been a loyal user of theirs for years but these last few years have only made me more and more reluctant to keep using their products. And the only reason I haven't just given up now is because there's no viable alternative. Safari is trash, Opera and Edge are literally just Chrome 2.0, and there's no way I'm using Chrome because fuck Google.
I think that's a bit harsh. Calm down.
Oh so it's not just me, go worried for a moment thinking I fucked something up. God I feel so naked without NoScript and UBO.
My addons are all still working, but can't you just turn addon signing off for awhile? Set `xpinstall.signatures.required` to `false` in about:config.
According to Mozilla, the issue is that a global certificate expired that wasn't supposed to expire and it caused this issue. ETA unknown but they do know what the problem is.
I literally just switched to Firefox on all my devices. I'm switching back to Chrome, Mozilla have almost immediately shown themselves to me to be absolutely incompetent.
Just a heads up you can go to about:debugging in your address bar and load the extensions again from your firefox folder in appdata.
I changed that setting months ago and I'm not on the nightly build. Latest vresion of Firefox, my addons are working fine
