https://vimeo.com/331897593 This group has been getting a lot traction with their ideas and has some really influential tech people within the organization. (Skip past the 10 minute mediation though lol).
Companies will never stop exploiting human nature because money. Government intervention would inevitably lead to propaganda. Shits never gonna get fixed. It was inevitable. Only possible solution is to teach the next generation to be aware of their subconscious affecting their actions. Even then that probably won't fix it.
False dictonomy? How can you be so fatalistic when governments are already starting to regulate these big social media companies? We're definitely going to see healthy regulations on these companies in the next 10 years.
If I get linked to another one of these insufferably pantomimed silicon valley indoctrination sessions i'm going to lose my fucking mind. "we've always lived in social systems, whether it's communities or societies" living on the west coast and being a reasonably educated person i have literally had it with these fucking californians. "human downgrading." wow. genius. just get a fucking degree in philosophy like the rest of us.
I find it more suspicious that they're claiming they've made changes to social media platforms that still openly abuse users. Yes they're calling for movements in the right direction but their website talks about how google will move to 'helping people'. Honestly, I feel as though this is a bunch of silicon valley numbskulls thinking they have the solutions to the problems they created which is about as absurd as expecting Mitch McConnell to know how to fix the US government. These social media companies and designs need to be broken down into smaller companies or shut down entirely; they're a net negative and so far their solutions have been unwieldy ban hammers or blaming their 'black box' networks which is stupid because any decent and ethical programming company will put in audit checking software into the blackbox.
