Hey,
my ram usage keeps rising till its at about 10 to 12gb's. after that my game crashes.
I already tried many things hoping to fix it. -maxMem=8192 or even a clean windows installation didnt fix the problem.
my game is installed on an m.2 ssd
CPU: Ryzen 1600x OC @4ghz
RAM: G.Skill Trident Z 16gb 3200mhz
GPU: Powercolor radeon rx 480 red dragon 8gb

If the crashing happens with stock clock speeds and voltage then I don't know. You haven't mentioned any errors, so it's not like we can magically tell you what the problem is
Just to note, RUSTs recommended RAM is 16GB. It lists the minimum as 8GB but I'd take that with a grain of salt because all of the updates likely changed those requirements.
Its not crashing because of my Cpu. Its something with the ram
Okay. I didn't say it was your CPU. If you feel its a RAM issue try removing one stick at a time, reducing the timings and voltage or running a memory test.

if you are not using nearly ALL of your RAM, you are WASTING resources......
RAM is not like money where having spare can be "saved up" towards some Utopian future.....
you are paying its living expenses, it should bloody well work for it.
Chances are, you just destroyed the caching data and now it has to re-build it all....
