So apparently this is near Tucson, AZ

They do frequent tours. I'm totally interested in doing this at some point.
I'm stuck between being totally fascinated and scared shitless. You don't find out until like the 15th step whether it's a drill.
The "tries counter" seems exploitable, though. I wonder if there's a cooldown period where you get more tries. Think about it: He said that even if the seventh try was correct, the whole facility shuts down. Imagine someone just coming in and covertly putting in six erroneous codes. Then knock knock it's WWIII and we can't shoot because we're out of guesses. Tragic vulnerability. Go back and fix it.
Always reminds me of just how chilling it can be for those guys down there and how aptly depicted WarGames shows it.

I'd watch a 30 minute drama where they get the call, but the commander and deputy get into an argument over using the bomb -- like The Man Who Saved the World meets Twelve Angry Men.
I've been here before. It's a surreal vibe. I've never quite been able to put it into words.
I've gotten the top to bottom tour and highly recommend it. They also have a "sleepover" package where you can spend a night and sort of role-play as the being the crew.
There's 17 other sites, some abandoned and some privately owned all within an hours to 30 minutes drive from this location. If you want to get ballsy and play hide and seek with the forest service there's one "abandoned" one East of this site.
That is exactly the plot of Crimson Tide, except it's on a ballistic missile submarine and not a silo.
I've read that the entire process is designed process is designed to be like this. This is becauyse you drill and run through it so many times you stop thinking about it. That way when launch time comes the training kicks in and you don't hesitate.
I see this was also in your recommendations, as it was in mine
I want to know what the russian's launch process was. No way they had one as sophisticated as this one right?
just a big red button that says "launch"
The final minute of the tour is literally some random Fallout vault's sad origin story.
I suppose that's what inspired this:

It's surprisingly similar to U.S.
