Oops, I dropped my phone in the microwave

$229 to get your data sold off to the highest bidder for targeted advertising and if history has anything to go by, to get cellphone games hawked at your face. No thanks Blizzard.
there is absolutely nothing left of the blizzard that people liked
it has been ship-of-theseus'd into something so much worse
$230 to attend a video game convention?
What the fuck is there a good reason why it costs so much?
People will pay that much, that's a good enough reason for them
And that's just the ticket price, imagine buying that ticket, then hotel, traveling fee, food and so on. Easily 500-1000 or more depending on where you're from...
Only to be greeted by the biggest announcement that is a kick in the groin: Mobile.
Seems like the usual case of one user with no clue of what they're doing interpreting something incorrectly, and then a bunch of people taking his/her misinformation as gospel.
The next phase of the Sombra ARG has begun I see.
Too bad whoever gets their words out there first, usually the outraged ones, shape the opinion in their favor. No matter if they exaggerate, lie or twist. Since most of won't bother checking it or reading back on the topic. This kind of misinformation is just sad.
Is this an out of season april fool's joke?
It's happening everywhere now. It's fucking insane. Just look at the thread about Gmod.
Because the last convention sold well at a cheaper price. If this sells well at this price, next year's will cost more, and they'll keep doing it until the number of people attending drops one year
theres literally nothing in all of Blizzard's collective history that would ever make a base ticket worth $229
I love Star Citizen and I end up writing word walls because this shit is endemic over there. The project's weird and unique situation invites uninformed hot takes but sometimes it's unbelievable.
Don't get me wrong, there's plenty to complain about with the project, but look at the hoaxed "$45,000 refund" where dude actually refunded for like $300 and deleted his Reddit account the minute his lie was exposed by the devs. The anti-SC subreddit was all fucking in on the story and one of the mods claimed to have personally verified the guy's story and then suddenly he deletes himself.
People just aren't happy with a slightly bad thing and need to whip it up into a firestorm of controversy so they can lead an angry mob, regardless of reality. Fuck, when NMS was delayed at the last minute a mod on the NMS subreddit, unaffiliated with Hello Games, received death threats.
The internet needs to build in consequences for manufacturing controversy and creating digital torch mobs or else this is the future.
It's about the experience.
You can say the same thing about any other event. Why pay X for concert, race, game, etc.
Blizzard fans are not known for their sharp and notable acumen.
some permissions are not nearly granular enough. Contacts is required to log into services, and Phone is required to get cellular status (sometimes)
In light of this new information, the thread title is definitely misleading.
Feel free to make a new, updated thread about Blizzcon - I'm closing this one as users will no doubt continue posting in it without the full context.
Sorry, you need to Log In to post a reply to this thread.
