It's still possible to jump into the cave without sustaining much damage.
I recently had a cave base and both me and raiders were able to easily jump down.
I'd say there is 30% chance you will survive.
Is the team aware?
It was an old bug I thought they fixed, you jump off raid towers or cave bucket lift and alt f4. Hopefully this isn't still happening because I love building in caves
When you log out mid air your body will now fall down and you will take damage from that fall as of a recent update. If you jump down and become wounded you have a 20% chance of standing up
No ALT+F4 or logging out involved, simply walk and hit the ground, you survive.

Ok, guess I will have to try it. Where do you need to land? And is it specific to the cave type
It happened on the smallest cave, with just 1 bucket lift and one entrance. Unfortunately somebody took it over so I'm unable to make a video for you.
Actually I managed to land in multiple spots in order to survive. You should be able to pull it off in less than 5 attempts.
Try the following:
wood pile (next to bucket)
empty area (between bucket and further cave tunnel)
rocky bits (by the cave walls)
I've managed to survive in all 3 in ~10 random attempts. The only thing that 100% kills you is landing in the bucket directly.

Before it was a guaranteed survival with virtually no loss of any health.
