The IDF hit a building in the Gaza Strip with an airstrike after claiming the site had been used by Hamas cyber operatives to attack Israel’s cyber space. The IDF claimed it stopped the attack online before launching its airstrike on Hamas. It claims it has now wiped out Hamas’ cyber operational capabilities. It could mark a change in modern cyber warfare tactics, given that it is the first time a cyber-attack has been met with immediate physical retaliation. However, as ZDNet points out, the US is still the first country to respond to cyber-attacks with military force. In 2015, the nation launched a drone strike to kill the British national in charge of ISIL's hacker groups Junaid Hussain. Hussain had also dumped personal details of US military forces online. This latest attack is different to the 2015 US retaliation: The IDF apparently reacted immediately, rather than planning its response over weeks or months.
Uh huh. Did they forget that Israel is already engaged in a bombing campaign over the Gaza Strip in response to rocket attacks?
its not exactly revolutionary that israel who holds total military dominance over hamas responded in this way, it was completely no risk for them, add in some AA or some controlled airspace and things change quickly.
If you use the aimbotz, you get the a-bombs.
Got worried for a moment there but according to the article this wasn't as immediate as the title would lead people to believe, Israel would not do this unless they had concrete evidence that there is indeed cyber warfare shit being used agaisnt them inside that building. Basically they didn't just detect an IP hacking their shit and immediately bombed the IP's location or something stupid like that.
You say that, but I don't think Israel has the sterling reputation you seem to think it does. "Israel wouldn't do that!" isn't really a safe bet when it comes to the way Israel handles Palestine.
Israel is in the process of an ethnic cleansing against the Palestinians. Believe you me, they aren't too particular.
An Israeli child’s minecraft server being hacked would be enough for Isreali to lob some napalm over the prison walls of Palestine. They relish any opportunity.
It demonstrates how Hamas saw the potential use of cyber in its fight with Israel,” he says. “But the speed and lethality of the Israeli response shows how Israeli intelligence capabilities had already recognized the potential threat and most likely had already gathered detailed targeting intelligence.” Where's the death toll
I find it sad when people refuse to admit it's a genocide in the making happening right now
Israel is an aviation powerhouse second to the US, they'd need modern Russian anti air gear to even be a remote threat to Israeli Fixed Wing aircraft.
