• Boeing knew of earlier 737 Max problem

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-48174797 Boeing has admitted that it knew about a problem with its 737 Max jets a year before the aircraft was involved in two fatal accidents, but took no action. The firm said it had inadvertently made an alarm feature optional instead of standard, but insisted that this did not jeopardise flight safety.

1 year in prison for each person killed yeah?
More like 25 to life.
Honestly should do more than 40 years since they knew about it, didnt do shit about it really to prevent such accidents and the fact that they knew and let the risks ride out and put people in jeopardy is horrid.
Surely in these monolithic and massive businesses like Boeing, when the Feds come for them they're going to elect a scapegoat and that person is going to get all the sentence when they only share a portion of the guilt. That seems to have been the way it worked with the 2008 crash.
This is "normalization of deviance," where it becomes so commonplace it becomes normal for it to happen. Another famous instance of this is the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster, with the foam striking the leading edge of the wing. It happened often and was never an issue, until it was.
an OPTIONAL alarm feature?????
Pilot & Passenger Safety DLC
good thing capitalists are bloodless. Its annoying to see that people are pissed about this but aren't about the litany of deregulation taking place under Trump.
Reminder that these aircraft crashed because the airline completely neglected to give them the actual training required to avoid this exact catastrophe, for which there is an actual procedure that the pilot attempted to open the plane's manual to locate while crashing.
coulda just gone with the regular indicator of the system being activated and having a simple switch to turn it off
After reading the preliminary reports on the first crash I pointed a series of really obvious things Boeing could have done in the first place to prevent the crash from ever happening and apparently those things are what Boeing is actually implementing in their fix package. Fuckin shameful
An individual kills 346 people, and would likely be executed, or never spend another day of their life as a free person. A corporation kills 346 people through negligence, inaction, and greed, and ultimately, no one is charged. The heads of Boeing are responsible for the profits, and the success of the company. Everything they succeed in, the CEO's and administrators take credit for. The failures should be no different. These peoples actions, and decisions, lead to the deaths of 346 people. There should be no "fines". There should only be jail time. Nothing less will ever impart the seriousness of these kinds of crimes upon our corporate hellscape.
