I always assumed sprinklers worked on sensors for smoke, like fire alarms. I guess it makes sense to make it a chemical reaction rather than electronic, there's way less chance of something disarming it without physically removing the chemicals.
I wonder if they can design systems that "override" the little bulb with a line pressure spike or something.
now only if actual sprinkler water were that nice and clear
It's always annoyed me in movies when sprinklers are shown to be activated by smoke, like a smoke detector. I can't watch the end of the SpongeBob Movie without grumbling about it.
