These people are scum and Jim Browning is a hero as far as I'm concerned.
What's the deal with the authorities in the countries where these scammers operate? Do they just not care to shut them down?
They are usually in bed with the scamming groups.
Interesting to see some indoor footage after watching plenty such of scams on Kitboga's channel
With countries like this, all you got to do is pay some guys to turn a blind eye and all is well. Thats why india and such are rife with these scammers, a lot of them have the knowledge to do these things from working in tech support in the first place.
Wouldn't surprise me if a lot of these people's first/daytime job is legit tech support, and then for extra income they do scam calls.
What Jim is doing is technically illegal right? I think this would be considered wiretapping and computer trespassing. I doubt he would ever get punished for this, but hopefully he wont get in trouble at all.
I'm kinda curious how he got into their systems in the first place, did he make a video on that? Also how he intervened in the video he mentioned where he helped the poor lady who the scammers tried to hurt.
my guess is improperly configured or old VNC software, or he got/guessed their credentials
No repercussions for letting them operate, so why would you when they're probably bringing more money into the local economy than the far majority of legitimate jobs.
This channel is fucking incredible. I've never seen anybody fuck with online scammers to this degree.
He keeps that info a secret so the scammers don't find out. However, one of the methods is to basically trick the scammer into letting you access THEIR PC and then you try to plant a special piece of remote access software that lets you access their PC remotely and is completely "silent". I forget what it's called. But the gist of it is you try to get the scammers to run this software which is normally disguised as an innocent but tempting file such as "TaxReturns.pdf" and then if they take the bait and run the file this remote access software runs completely silently in the background, there is no evidence that it's running and it lets you do whatever you want. There is this one other dude, Kitboga, but he's more into the "wasting their time" territory of scam baiting. I'll say this though, he has the most perfect grandma impression I've ever heard in my life. If this fucker called me on the phone doing his impression I'd swear to god I was talking to an actual grandma. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M81Tjn_IXbk&t=697s
Kit is way too good at playing Edna. There was one time where scammers edited his fake bank and took out all of Edna's "money," which he responded by pretending to cry. It sounded way too real and I actually felt really bad about it.
He counter-scams them with regular hacking techniques. If you look at some of the pictures, you'll notice there's some super out of date software on these systems (excel 2007). He probably "falls" for the scams and serves them malware through the files they take from him, and they presumably don't have proper IT so it's easy to get from system to system once he's in. Highly illegal and it's surprising he's so open about his actions, but the question becomes will anyone prosecute him? Probably not. To prosecute him, either some department would have to actively go after him (netting a ton of bad PR in the process), or the people he's hitting would have to get the police involved and they'd be making themselves super liable at that point as well. It's risky business.
