https://www.theverge.com/2019/5/6/18534248/game-of-thrones-got-season-8-hbo-final-last-of-the-starks-starbucks-producer-apology Look, its understandable people do mistakes. But how the fuck did this go through the set people, the cinematographer, the director, the editor and not get spotted until its aired on screen?
No way it was a mistake, 100% just "clever" advertisement.
Starbucks is canon in the GoT universe now.
I didn't notice and even if I did I honestly cannot imagine giving a fuck
This, holy shit why is this news. Mistakes like this happens all the time in movies and shows.
Saw the screenshot before actually viewing ep4 but somehow I missed it last night anyway.. This shit happens all the time, big deal.
Its more a threat to the economy than the Night King was, of course Starbucks is the real final boss
The way I'm seeing, this whole season is turning into a mistake.
Every season since they started going off-book has been god fucking awful so it's not really a big surprise.
The whole story is a subtle nod to the dangers of encroaching capitalism. Nobody took me seriously when I suggested getting children to mine dragon glass (aka coal, hence burn/dragon.) Wake up, sheeple.

Long day at work and kind of just forgot about it in-between breaks? I don't know, I could imagine multiple scenarios. People fuck up, who cares.
I saw this image without context so I thought it was some kind of photoshop
Yeah no kidding it was a mistake. I don't know why it's such a big deal, little errors like this happen.... well pretty much every time
Yeah if it's something I like then it doesn't matrer, mistakes happen!
There was a scene in The Walking Dead where a zombie was drinking from a water bottle. Sometimes on large productions like this some details slip.
It's GOT of course it's news
Saying "How did no one notice this?!" applies to the season overall so far, really. There have been so many problems with it, especially the last two episodes. The level of quality for the writing has stooped to in the latest episode Dany loses another dragon because "she forgot" (their actual reason for it) about their enemy having a fleet. So far this season has just been contrivances/problems that should easily have been noticed or avoided if anyone put any thought in.
It's probably a bigger issue to the producers themselves. Imagine going through your work for the 10th time, to check for the tiniest mistakes, before finally submitting your work. Your final work that you've worked for a year, day in day out. Then after submitting you realize you missed some mistake, and instead of finding relief, you find yourself frustrated at the end of it. This is how they probably feel. OR they let it slip on purpose, for some reason. Or they knew, and also knew there was no way they could reshoot any scenes and thought fuck it to themselves, and see if anyone notices and prepare for a social media statement later.
Haven’t seen the series since season 3, but watched yesterday’s episode and crikey that was some dumb shit.
In the blinding supernova of issues and problems the last episode has had, THIS is what people are mad about?
I have a theory for how this happened. Take a look at this picture: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/185499/e84d3264-950e-4c9b-bd47-7d356c4f13ef/1557158286604.jpg That's D&D themselves, making a cameo in the same scene as the starbucks cup. One of them is looking directly into the camera, no less. Here is what I propose happened: "Hey, Dan." "Yes, David?" "Wouldn't it be cool if we made a cameo in this episode? It's one of the last, after all." "Very epic and subversive, David. Just let find somewhere to put my coffee...."
As someone with a little bit of experience in acting, it's fucking hilarious to see people think they'd notice every single mistake on such a large, detailed, and crowded set.
I wouldn't be surprised if under the table there's 10 more coffee cups. I'm sure between takes, everybody's just walking around and eating/drinking, and they just tuck them out of sight when the cameras fire up. It's funny, but it's not a big deal.
It seems like an honest and very minor mistake. I recognize that people sometimes screw up on the job, and when it's something as trivial as this I just kind of shrug it off, but maybe that's because I work for a living.
Nobody is really making a huge deal out of it though, it's funny because it's another stupid mistake on this shitshow of a series. If you really didn't care about it you'd probably just read it and roll your eyes like everyone else.
Tbh I love it when this shit happens, it's always an unexpected 4th wall moment. It's a show, imagine someone getting angry at a wee mistake (I'd argue an addition lol).
I'm sure the cup was noticed but since it was a good take they just said "we'll remove it in post" and then forgot to remove it in post.
Guess it was either CG in Ghost or CG out the coffee cup
Do you even watch the show? Nobody 'forgot' about the fleet, it's a brand new fleet that euron produced in record time with a state-of-the-art anti-dragon artillery barrage installed on it. The previous best attempt with a ballista barely even injured the dragon. Almost definitely what happened. This kind of small thing slips through the cracks all the time, especially with a set that's so insanely crowded with cup props. Or maybe it doesn't matter because it appears on-screen for a fleeting few seconds. I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who actually noticed it before they read about it online.
